Call me a geek if you want, but I nearly cried with joy when I heard about this on the news last night. Branson's starting up a commercial space service!

can I be the bigger geek ,for just a moment, and say that it is in fact impossible to go to infinty, as it is a concept, not a number (e.g not a certain number of light miles,)

Unless you class "infinity" as a noun, referring to space because it is thought to be endless - just as infinity describes the endless nature of numbers. In which case you could go to "infinity" and then. Well, as was said, "back again".

The Enigmatic Dr X

A descrpitive noun, of course. But not an adjective.

When I saw the title of the thread, I immediately imagined it refered to some Big Brother style task on Space Cadets.

...but now I know different. Getting my coat...
STRIKE !!!

Hmmm... The projected design looks like the brainchild of an acid casualty. Can't they just use Stanstead?http://www.virgingalactic.com/images/content/News_spaceport.jpg">

Given that Branson is the biggest bullshiter on the planet and more than half of his ventures go down the pan (seen any Virgin Cola lately?) I would not hold any high hopes for this. And if it's anything like Virgin Rail it'll cost about a zillion quid for a ticket and the Space Cadets will have had a longer ride.

I'm still marvelling at the imaginatively titled 'Spaceship One'.  They could've called it anything- anything at all- and that was the best they could come up with?

I'm not sure that Branson is *the* biggest bullshitter on the planet though, even if your observations of Virgin Rail are pretty much spot on...
Pffft...

Look at the half-arsedness of the 3D graphic mock-up, it looks like a Flash tutorial. I mean, it wouldn't even be a good prog-rock cover.
