Does anyone know if Kek-W has a real name?
Like Mark Millar for instance?

MM wrote Cannon Fodder & the Grudge Father.
Kek-W wrote Cannon Fodder 2 and the Grudge Father 2.

Same person?  Or is Kek-W the official sequal droid?

My guess is Kek-W is Kevin Walker, he of Sin City fame.

He did co write the Inspectre in the meg.

Though I could be wrong....

All of this is on the site...or should be. Just check the profile page for the person who's pen names you want, or check a story to see who the database has as the writer/artist.

Kek-W is Nigel Long

See I was right. Nigel Long is in fact Kev Walker, oh sod it...

I wonder why this Nigel Long was known as Kek-W?

I reckon he was so ashamed of his stories, he didn't want us fans to know who he was!

Oddboy

Thanks Wake.
I didn't think the site would tell me because most pen names have been replaced with peoples real ones (like Emberton or TB Grover or LJ Silver etc) so I figured that if my suspicions were true then not even you would know the absolute truth.
Still, no real reason to believe that Millar isn't 'Nigel Long' if I really want to, and it's good for starting rumours...

So it should have been Kak-W eh?  I don't think I've read any of his stuff.

"I reckon he was so ashamed of his stories, he didn't want us fans to know who he was!"

Well, plenty of message board posters seem to use the same strategy :)

Oddboy

Mr -W was the master mind who created Rose O'Rion.

O! Wake, wasn't "Timehouse" a Strontium Dogs story?  On the characters | profiles page it seems to be under 'other thrills'.

[Sorry - not trying to catch you out, but I notice things sometimes]

If I discover Nigel Long is Mark Millar (which seems doubtful, since Rose O'Rian is more recent than Mark Millar's stuff) then I'll change the database to put both Kek-W and Nigel Long as extra names for Mark Millar and reattribute all the Kek-W stuff to him.

If you spot any droids who are really pseudonyms of other droids, please let me know.

I'm not sure...can someone confirm this?

Oddboy

Either that or there is a SD story missing from the database...

Plus Peter Hogan did a lot of the Strontium Dogs stories...

Timehouse was a story set in the house of Father Time and his kids.
The cover is from the final Ennis SD story, Darkest Sun, I believe, which ran until 862(?)

Well I knew that something screwwy was going on...

How does this stomm get started? Sheesh!
(No sheeshing!)

Right, let's get this straight once and for all.

Kek-W is the pen-name of writer Nigel Long. Apparently, it's an old nickname of his that he's had for years and he wanted to use it for all his 2000 AD scripts, so he did.

Kek-W is not Mark Millar, who had never written under any pseudonyms to the best of my knowledge.

Kek-W is not Kevin Walker, who also does not use pen-names, IIRC.

Timehouse has absolutely nothing to do with Strontium Dog or Dogs. It was a strip by Peter Hogan and Tim Bollard (no relationof Brian Bolland, BTW). There were two series of Timehouse.

Peter Hogan did request a pen-name be used for some of his work on Strontium Dogs and Durham Red, after I took the editorial bludgeon to his scripts. He adopted the pseudonym Alan Smithee, which is commonly used in Hollywood by directors who disown a film after it has been mucked about by others.

If you want a pen-name revealed to find the droid cowering behind it, then here's one - Alison Potter was me. I borrowed my wife's maiden name to script a couple of emergency jobs for the Megazine - a Heavy Metal Dredd and tweaks of a Neil Gaiman text story.
