Can anyone point me in the direction of a cheap (ie free) spyware type thing.

I've run a check and aparently my machine is rife with the buggers and I'd like to get shot of 'em.

Suggestions?

You probably already have virus protection, but if your machine has been behaving oddly it's worth downloading and running this as well.

Spybot is free too.

There's also a free (for now) MS anti-spyware tool you can get via the built-in Update. It's quite good apparently, but using something from the company whose deficiencies allow spyware to proliferate seems cynical to me - almost as if the holes in Windows were intended, so to create a new market.

I just had to re-build and reinstall everything on my PC due to spyware :(
I now have Spybot and McAfee's 30 day free anti spyware going.
Make sure you immunise your system once you install Spybot, that should stop anything new joining the party.

Dont forget to add the updates once you have installed the software...

If you dabble in dangerous waters you might want to think about getting a firewall as well

In which case...

Zonealarm also handily has a built in spyware checker too (I have mine scheduled to run once a week while I'm at work).
