Well, that was a great start - I've posted it again, with a title this time, so people know it's on the go!

- Hopefully it won't be a damp squib, but here we have the grand launch of the Resyk Challenge!

Wil4 is due for the Resyk treatment at 1.30pm (unless Moly reappears) and evryone else is welcome to pitch in - but only at Wil4's request.

Answer the questions correctly, and Dredd rescues you from the hideous processing conveyor.

Get them all wrong, and you will be processed alive!

For the record, here are the rules.

1. Each question must receive an answer logged on the message board no later than five minutes after the question is posted; eg question at 13:05, answer by 13.10. Failure to do so will earn you a strike for a wrong answer.

2. Five strikes and it's munceburgers time. You will survive four, but will spend the rest of your life horribly maimed.

3. Each contestant has one lifeline - and one lifeline only. If you don't know the answer, post "Phone A Friend" and hopefully someone will help. But you still only have five minutes.

4. Each challenge will start with an easy one, end with a particularly difficult question and will include at least one quotes question and one multi-parter, where more than one answer is required. There will be five questions in total.

5. Answering one question quickly does not earn extra time for others.

6. The Challenge will be fun and fun only. Pedants criticising the questioner's lack of knowledge/ glaring errors will receive Rigelian Hotshots.

7. A league table will be drawn up - assuming we have enough candidates - based on how many correct answers contestants give and, in the case of the inevitable draw, how quickly they were posted. The grand prize will be a Pa Angel Super Scream Torture Machine (Mark I). Consolation prizes will include bottles of pizen to liven up those dull parties!

Cheers, MikeD

Does that mean that I should say

BRING IT ON!

                                  again?
Better set your phaser to stun.

Trout

Slight variation:

For this one, haven't had a confirmation from either candidate that they will get involved.

So, we'll give Wil4 his five minutes to answer the first question, and after that, it's open to anyone, just for fun.

Quickest answers to each question will be declared the winners.

Question one coming up in a minute or two...

MikeD

Trout

Okay, first question. If we have no answer from Wil4 by five minutes after this post is logged, and anyone else out there is listening, it's open to any takers.

An easy one to start.

Which planet was atomised at the end of DR and Quinch's first appearance in 2K?

moly

moly

earth, after they blasted the planet to read something very rude

stodge

the five minutes wan't up yet.....

i suggest we adjourn to the chat room as the refresh rate is quicker in there.  it takes me approx 10 seconds to refresh with a DSL connection....

...Earth!!  yay!  do i get a prize?

Trout

Excellent! Well done Moly - you're aboard as our first choice contender.

No-one else is eligible for answers yet, Stodge, sorry.

Question one answer: It was, of course, our own blue marble, Earth. The story was called "DR and Quinch Have Fun On Earth!" - by the genius that is Alan Moore.

Next question - and remember your lifeline -

Who said this?

"I'm sick of this place. Every time something nice happens, a fight starts."

Is that a description of the message board? :-)

Trout

You're right about the refresh button, which I forgot before.

Let's stay here for now, and try it out for this first time.

Anyone help Moly? Minutes ticking away.

BTW the idea behind using the board was it logs times.

MikeD

you could just put a start time in front of the question on in the chat room.  we've all got watches but it's just that we tend not to look at them when we're online :o)
