As some of you might be aware I do a lot of work for a Canadian agency (Three in a Box Inc.) that operates worldwide.  Last week, I received the following from the agent who runs the UK side of things:

"Hi there.

I am putting the feelers out for an agent to take over our London advertising markets. While our UK editorial sales are humming along nicely and our presence is well known in advertising circles as well, I don't feel I have the time, the energy and more importantly the geographic positioning to do what it takes to fully take advantage of the London ad and design markets. These (as I know from working them myself and also from watching Rob work his magic in the Toronto markets) require a local presence and we are finally ready to put our resources toward doing that. So I'm looking for referrals from you guys for a person you feel is a real self-starter who has some knowledge of the commercial art or design world but most importantly, someone you feel is really ambitious, organised and charismatic. Our aim there is to bring the Three in a Box model that has made us one of the biggest international North American agencies to the London markets, where I understand reps are viewed a bit differently. So all promotions, billing etc would still be handled here and overseen by me and I will continue to work with clients in the editorial markets, but it would mean we have a man or woman 'in the field' so to speak. I do firmly believe that the right person cannot be 'made' and therefore, we are offering a handsome commission rate and a chance to build something viable with a great deal of autonomy - for the right person. The beauty of the deal is that they would run their own show and have control over the choice markets (advertising sales can be very rewarding and as you know, very profitable) but without the fear and costs of starting from scratch, with someone else having paid for and put in the work on the research and development aspects, which are considerable.

If you know anyone that you think might fit the bill or if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to talk to me or make referrals directly to me. I will be in London the last week of February/the first week of March for the London Book Fair and would love to meet with candidates then. So time is ticking, if you know anyone, please refer them without delay!"

Long story short, they are looking to recruit an agent to take over the London advertising markets.  If anyone here is interested in this, and actually capable of doing the job, please contact me and I?ll be happy to point you in the right direction.  They?re a good bunch and the revenue from some of the Advertising jobs I?ve done for them in the past would make your eyes water.

It?s a good opportunity for the right person, but please be realistic and only contact me if you really think that you?re up to it.

Cheers-

Matt.

Well if there are ten jobs up for grabs that are worth five grand, I'm happy to be doing one of them.  I'd be even happier still if I was the agent handling all ten jobs and getting a percentage of each one.

Porches are for people lacking in other areas, btw.

Oh, wait a minute- don't you drive...  never mind.

Ah.  Weblink- good idea.  That's the artwork you'd be pimping.

No doubt, there will be temptation to approach them direct if you're interested.  Please don't do this- it's supposed to be a referrals only deal.

Cheers.

You *do* realise that you're not replying to one of Mulcher's posts, don't you? ;)

Speaking of which...did you receive the same bizarre 'meeting with the Forteans' text out of the blue that I did?

Bart Oliver

Heh, recieved, replyed then 'rescued' LMS from the Forteans..
Obviously you're not a golfer.

Matt Timson

Heh- I'd have let the bugger suffer- and yes, of course I got the same text.

Remind me to show you the text I got from him that read simply, "I love you".  Needless to say, it will be doing the rounds at Bristol this year...

;)

Actually, I felt sorrier for the Forteans, now that I think about it...

:D

Ha! I think I know what you're on about.

I asked if he'd had an anal probe yet.

Perhaps that's what gave him the idea of bailing out to have a drink with Bart. ;-)

Mulcher bashing!  Good, wholesome fun!  Sadly, we won't be sharing a room at Bristol this year, and thus I will be missing out on many photo opportunities- although it does mean that I won't have to sneak into the room after 9pm because my little prince(ss) is sleeping*...

;)

*not that I did, of course- I staggered in and put all the lights on before shouting "SORRY!" and tumbling into the bath.  Ahhh... happy days!

Bristol this year

There's a high possibility that you'll be graced with mine and Malchi's presence there this year. :)
