See Mike Carey has got a novel out... was reviewed today in Guardian. Looks interesting... a supernatural crime novel. Anyone read it?

GordonR

I've got it, but haven't got round to reading it yet.  Looks interesting.

Yes I read it about 2 months back( got a proof copy) and I'm glad to report it's fantastic..some minor niggles about the prose but the story is excellent and should be the start of a lucrative career. This is just my opinion I've not actually read any Real reviewers opinions on it yet and they might think something totally different.

Felix Castor could easily have turned out to be John Constantine by another name and indeed they share a penchant for trenchcoats but Castor soon develops a persona of his own well apart from JC.
I hope this is the start of a series and I think boarders here will enjoy it.

Mike Carey's Hellblazer certainly brought that series back to some of it's Jamie Delano era heights, although I can't make head nor tail of 'Lucifer'.

Have it, am reading it, am halfway through. Good so far.

Pretty nice review in the Guardian Review section yesterday (Saturday).

Well that turned out to be a bit crap, unfortunatly... it's got a few nice bits, enough to keep me reading until the end, but it's full of Idiot Plotting.

... and it has the curse of comic writer turned novelist is that it's horribly over-written.
