1280x1024 and 1024x768.

Students have been making web page splices this week- the Pshop doc size for the entire page has to be at 800x600.

Although with bigger, better displays becoming more accessable surely pages can be that bit larger now.

What size were you thinking of for the comicartsketchbook website?
Obviously you're not a golfer.

I use 1280x1024 (and 1024x768).

According to w3school's http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp" target="_blank">browser stats, there are still approximately 20% of users on 800*600.

Quite who these 20% are I don't know.  Nobody I've seen in the last 5 years.

An angry nineties throwback who needs to get a room.

1280x1024 at work.
Larger on the iMac (can't remember)

However I do have the Bookmarkbar taking up ~20% of the screen, which probably drops me to < 1024 wide.

Who's your site going to be aimed at? If you're aiming at people who are primarily creatives who are technically aware, chances are they'll have larger monitors, but even so, I wouldn't recommend creating a site that's larger than about 950px wide (for a 1024 x 768 display); if you're aiming at the widest possible audience, you need to stick to about 750px ( for a 800 x 600 display). These days, with my professional work, I'm more and more moving clients towards sites in the 900ish wide sort of area.

Note that you could also do a liquid design, which stretches with the browser window. If you do this, though, restrict the width of the text areas, otherwise it'll be impossible to read.

I use 1024x768 and 1280x1024.

My mum still has about a 4" monitor, so I reckon she's probably one of those 800x600 types. Of course, she's not on the internet, so it's academic.
