Hey FS.
Tank Girl will have a new artist (not philip or jamie..).
It nearly went to another publisher, but titan showed interest again, when they nearly lost it, and with the new artist on board.
I can't say who it is yet, but they are GREAT, and very well known.

Gotta have fucking Button Man & V in there. V because its the best of its type out there (and better than Watchmen) and Button Man cos it's BEST THING EVER.

Some Dredd in top 10 would be nice.

and here's a little joke for you:

who would win in a fight between John Wagner & God?

it's a trick question. John Wagner IS God.
Dawn of the first day. 72 hours remain.

Grant Goggans

My nominations - and someone should definitely tally these up! - include:

10. Marvelman (Moore/Leach/Davis)
9. The Bogie Man (Wagner/Grant/Smith)
8. Doctor Who - fifth Doctor run (Parkhouse/Gibbons/Austin)
7. Johnny Red (Tully/Colquhoun/Cooper)
6. Modesty Blaise (O'Donnell/Holdaway/Romero)
5. D.R. & Quinch (Moore/Davis)
4. Dan Dare (Hampson)
3. Judge Dredd: America (Wagner/MacNeil)
2. Halo Jones (Moore/Gibson)
1. Charley's War (Mills/Colquhoun)

W. R. Logan

>Although I picked up Brodie's Law at Bristol and that's quite good, wouldn't make it into a top 10 of mine, but a good read nonetheless.

I picked up a copy as well and couldnt see what all the fuss was about. The arts pretty poor and its not one of Alan Grants best stories.

The Adventurer

THIS SPACE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK

Floyd-the-k

there's some interesting lists here. Since I've pretty much only read 2000AD, Viz and the odd Dr Who comic, I can't really contribute

yours, wishing he had the money for those nice Dan Dare collections,

Looking back over my list, utilising the amazing power of hindsight :), I'm going to have to bump Metalzoic and replace it with Nemesis...

Which leaves the number one slot wide open, I'll stand by my reasons for leaving Dredd out, Johnny Alpha is a much better character...

Moore Wagner and Mills are already adequately represented in there, perhaps I should promote The Dan Dare Collection to No.1 and shunt Luther Arkwright to the top 5...

I'd love to stick Hookjaw in there, for sentimental reasons, it takes me back to the days when Action was banned by the Moral Majority, but perfectly acceptable reading matter for dentist's waiting rooms. But, so far as I know, it's not been collected yet.

I need to broaden out the Genre representation, Death's Head would be nice, but it suffers, along with so many great British comics, from a severe case of non-collectionitis...

I'd be tempted to throw in a McMahon Slaine, but we're already Millsed up, and great though their collaboration was, it will always be second to the Mills/ O'Neill Nemesis in my book...

Button Man is another  serious contender for the twenty, but I want to open the top 10 beyond the 2th stable...

In a vaguely convincing attempt to reduce both the Sci-Fi geekery and the testosterone count, I'll stick a bit of Modesty in there (Unless anyone can point me in the direction of their favourite Jackie collection :) ).

Not being an expert, I'll happily go with Hipster Dad's O'Donnell/ Holdaway/ Romero suggestion, any particular stand out storyline?

That revised Top 10 (IMNPHO)

10. KILLING TIME (You're a marked man Smitty, watch it...)
9. DANDY/ BEANO ? Famous Faces From the Comics
8. NEMESIS THE WARLOCK: Death to all Aliens (Oh how the Mighty have fallen.)
7. SKIZZ
6. MODESTY BLAISE (O'Donnell/Holdaway/Romero,Cheers Hipster...)
5. THE ADVENTURES OF LUTHER ARKWRIGHT
4. CHARLEY?S WAR: 2 June-1 August 1916
3. DR & QUINCH?S TOTALLY AWESOME GUIDE TO LIFE
2. STRONTIUM DOG: Portrait of a Mutant
1. DAN DARE: VOYAGE TO VENUS part 1

feel free to rant, disagree, question my sanity, point out a severe lack of knowledge with regards to the history of the medium, etc. etc.

I've already started revising this list in my head...

"The Hell Makers" has been my favorite Modesty Blaise story so far, but my collection's still pretty incomplete.  I made the decision to focus on getting all of Titan's James Bond 007 collections first, since several friends are big Bond fans and it gives us something new to talk about, but Modesty will still be there when we get done!

Rob Spalding

I always like Garth in the Mirror when I was a kid, along with Jane.
Both seem to have vanished from everyone's radar, but Garth was cool.

Bad Andy

10. Top Ten (ironically) - just recently read this and its brilliant
9. Secret Wars (just don't ask)
8. Asterix & Cleopatra
7. Robo-Hunter - Day of the Droids
6. Dredd: America
5. Halo Jones - Book Three
4. Nikolai Dante - The Romanov Dynasty
3. Button Man
2. Zenith - Phase 1
1. Dredd: Necropolis - Completely personal reasons - the story that got me totally hooked on Dredd and tooth.

I, Cosh

Luther Arkwright in Number 1 and New Statesmen in there somewhere. Maybe even True Faith for a bit of Ennis action.
We never really die.

scutfink

True Faith yeah, I forgot about that one, and i feel we need some Roy of the Rovers in there too...

All in all, things aint looking so good for our  man Skizz...

Top Ten UK Comics (being actual comics, not stories that have been in comics):

10. WHIZZER AND CHIPS - double comic goodness! Be ye whizzkid or chip-ite?
9. VIZ - used to be good! Still is on the pages with Cat Sullivan and the Drunken Bakers man! And Gilbert Ratchet man! Let down badly by the rest.
8. SPIDER-MAN AND ZOIDS - Early Morrison madness and the best of the 80s Spidey!
7. DEADLINE - making lots of noise messing around with the art school boys.
6. POW - the comic with Nick Fury and Dare A Day Davy - together again for the first time!
5. THE DAREDEVILS/CAPTAIN BRITAIN - Early Alan Moore strips and text features! And CapBrit! Double Plus Good!
4. TOXIC - Blood, gore and perversion!
3. ACTION - The same ONLY FOR KIDS!
2. 2000AD - Some say this was the greatest comic of all!
1. EAGLE PHOTO COMIC - But they are WRONG! For 2000AD never had Doomlord or Saddle Tramp in it! Not to mention Sergeant Streetwise and the Tower King! And Joe Soap!
Try again. Fail again. Fail better.
