Another message board idea.

Wake,

1) Why are there certain messages that I can't reply to?

2) Would it be possible to add an extra column to the list of messageboard threads- in this column, it is possible for the person logged into the computer to mark threads 'to watch' so that they can easily follow any thread they want to.

You could then make another command, which would allow people to sort the messages so that the ones they are 'watching' appear at the top.
Cheers

1) The message board uses a Dewey-decimal (sp?) system for organising the messages. This message will be 1775.1 because it's the first reply to yours. If someone replies to this message, their's will be 1775.11, but if they reply to your's it will be 1775.2.

Therefore any given message can only have 9 direct replies, and I have set an arbitrary message 'depth' of about 10...i.e. I've fixed the number of decimal places. There is still space in a thread for 10 billion messages (or whatever) but a severe restriction on simple chatting (i.e. alternating posts). I have no intention to 'fix' this. It's just a feature of the way I've written the board.

2) While theoretically possible, this would mean yet another loop in the code which I believe would significantly slow down the loading of the index page....probably even for people who don't choose to watch threads.

Sorry.
