For what it's worth, I today added Amstor's book dimensions to the 2000 AD Books site.

Gotta say that from talking to the shops, most people seem to like the Case Files sizes etc. If "Hardback" / "Paperback" doesn't cover it I'll see what else we can do on the new one.

"Hardback" / "Paperback"

I know that all the current books are HB = tall, PB = short... but that's not always been the case, and only Tharg knows if that will change for future books.

Lovin' the Case Files, btw.

Well surely, having Hardback or paperback, the book dimensions and number of pages would be enough to give anybody an idea what kind of book they are.

Not surprising, seeing as they fit on the shelf with all the US trades.

Case in point:

I've just bought & read Durham Red: The Scarlet Cantos (which is US-sized stumpy).

Now I'm going to get book 2... but there are two versions:

Should the odd little pop-up for handling online subscriptiosn be moved into the store?

Oddboy --

The right-hand image is of the new edition which is indeed in the US format.

As for book sizes... well, I've said this often enough, but my preference is always for collections that reprint the stories at their original published size. The artwork was created with that repro size in mind & with the best will in the world shrinking it yet further often results in a loss of detail & impact. However, I'm aware that large-format books are probably not an option for every title that's released - and certainly not for series that are already far along (the Dredd collections, Rogue Trooper, Dante etc.)

Best option IMO is to stick pretty much to what's been done so far, but wherever feasible reprint titles at original size. This may mean only limited arcs - like Slaine: Books of Invasion - or one-offs - like Leviathan - see print in large-format, but it's better than nothing. I'd also put in a plea for keeping strips that have already begun in one format in the same format, but given what's happened with Durham Red, I suspect I'd be pissing in the wind :-)

Not sure which people are reading up on so I'll post this in both:

Current Barclay card issue with shop is now over, normal shop activity has resumed. I'm also looking at EVERY order that's been going through since then with my Webby eyes to make sure it's all ticking along nicely...

With regards to the graphic novels (and I mentioned this to Craig on the books mini-site too) I'd like the double function of a wishlist, and an "already got it" list.

Being able to remove things I own, or am not interested in, would in theory make the shop easier to navigate, and more appealing. Trawling through lists of things I'm not interested in, or already own is off-putting.

UKD - that's an ace idea... certainly if the new shop is to be built-in to this website, thereby we've all already got log-ins.

UKD -- I really like that idea, will add it to my wanted list ;)

you could have music but have the option of turning it off. A lot of sites have that.

Anyway, I don't care about music. I just want the shop to have absolutely everything 2000AD related that's available and to be easy to use. Oh and to sell gift vouchers.

If you had the already have list then I guess that'd also be interesting data you'd have on us as well ;)

Nice to know our ideas are welcome!
Looking forwards to loads of new stuff :)
I buy just about everything believe me.

Great Idea Floyd, Gift Vouchers!

I always end up buying all my own tooth stuff 'cos obviously I know what I've got and haven't but more so because my family and friends don't understand all my 'geeky' stuff and wouldn't know where to start. Vouchers would be great as I'd actually end up with prezzies I want! They would probably stop people from ordering the books from Amazon and Play as much too.

I second the vouchers idea!
