Strontium Dog Search/Destroy Badge

Jon Bayliss has just sent me the CNC-machined prototype of a Strontium Dog badge. The oval, dome and letters are all separate pieces and there are two pins on the back. The price is Â£14.95 plus p&p (Â£1.79 in the UK).

At the moment I just have the sample which looks great, so I've asked Jon to make me some more to sell.

Way cool... but why the same amount of galactic groats to purchase this in resin as for the metal, gold plated Dredd badge?
Is it that the SD badge is cast in seperate fiddly pieces then assembled atop one another? And if so, it then occurs to me... will the Dredd shield be so constructed (individual letters, eagle/shield/stars in relief - I'm guessing not judging by the comparatively low price), or just one single hunk o' zinc alloy from a mould?

The SD badges will be made in much smaller batches. I will initially be buying 10 badges from Jon unless I get a lot of orders through the site. The Dredd badge is the same price because the minimum quantity is 300. I did look into getting mass produced enamelled SD badges but couldn't get anyone to give me a quote for a domed badge, only flat ones.

I'll take a photo of the SD badge at an angle so you can see the dome.

9cm x 6.5 cm approx, according to the Termight Replicas listing.

Sigh. At this rate, Wake, my kids are soon only gonna get to eat every other day!

Any word on that Dredd helmet proposal...

Here are the angled photos. Sorry about the flash glare. The size is indeed 9cm tall x 6.5 cm wide.

I'll try and get some work in progress photos of the Dredd helmet from Jon.
