I like it a lot, and the scheduling really works for me. A pleasing melting pot of elements, with a hint of future direction.  Boo's art swings from genius (the Space Mule!) to murky (the Crow God!) in a single episode, but it's always pretty.  I do think such a potentially confusing strip needs a bit more of the clarity of art Boo turned in on the original Asylum, but I'm always glad to see it in the prog.  Mind you, these days EVERYTHING is good.  Weird place to be.

CapKlep

I'm in the camp of wanting to like it as i enjoyed the introduction story.
The longer it goes on, the less i seem to like it. I think the artwork is just way too busy so i find it a chore to actually see what is going on most of the time.

Cheers,

Art

I have to agree that I'm preferring the more grounded, neologism free Chiracussco.

Buttonman

To paraphrase the great man, it looks like weirdo freak out stuff to me.

For some reason this poll reminded me that we've never seen the return of the Darren Dead character - does anyone know if it's still in the offing? The one episode to date showed good promise.

Art

That said, my favorite Spurrier creation to-date remains a guy with Lobster Claws sticking out of his midriff, so maybe groundedness only goes so far.

Wils

Personally, I'm more interested in the inevitable appearance of Si on this thread, for his usual over-defence of one his stories, as is the norm during these discussions. ;)

Funt Solo

More Simping Detective, for Grud's sake - before I start using the Megazine as loo paper.
An angry nineties throwback who needs to get a room.

Emperor

I like it.

Script - good. I do have this thing about accents when written down (I find sections of The Filth troublesome in a Trainspotting kind of way) so given that I'm enjoying it more than I would in theory. I'm a big fan of folklore and think this is a great concept well realised.

Art - perfect compliment for it. Although it is tricky to say so in hindsight I can't think of another artist/style that would work as well with the story. It does work best on the splash pages which have been stunning but some of the action choreography doesn't feel as fluid as it could be and the detail work can often be unclear.

Its not my favourite strip but when a new adventure starts I'm always interested in seeing what happens.

It might be building up to it but I am starting to think these bite-sized chunks aren't offering the opportunity for variety and I'd be interested to see a longer story that could develop a few angles and move things along.
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

I think its pretty decent strip, and again one of those strips which ill have to read all at once again after this next series finished which just adds to the not-so-throwaway-able-or-forgetable 2000AD which im liking.

House of Usher

It's gone and done it again. Prog 1510, Harry Kipling (deceased) awful. Prog 1511, Harry Kipling (deceased) marvellous.
STRIKE !!!

WoD

I like the pretty colours, but the story is a little muddy sometimes.

hocothedev

This is about the only story in the prog lately that I can't be that bothered with. Glad to see I'm not the only one completely nonplussed by the art and dialog. I too liked the earlier stories but this latest one is just too much effort.

"Glad to see I'm not the only one completely nonplussed by the art and dialog."

Yeah ... it's frustrating, because there's a load of cracking ideas at the heart of Kipling, but the dialogue is rendered nigh on toshing unreadable, thanks to all the blorking grotsprockets, and I can barely figure out what's happening in half the panels.

Plus, as I said upthread, I find it strange that I have no clear mental image of either of the two supporting characters (or remember their names, it would seem).

OTOH, I should point out that I'm liking Chiascuro, and the gradual reveal of the supernatural nasty is working very nicely.

Cheers!
