Relationships and shopping? Bah! Has she not got any Clark Ashton Smith? :)

As a purchaser of books off eBay, I would say check out what various eBay shops are charging for something and undercut them with a buy it now. Some of these shops ask ridiculous sums for out of print books, and then the next geezer down has it for 99p.

Amazon could be a goldmine actually, yeah. Judging by all the crazy prices I see on there, it must attract a certain amount of crazy people!

Satchmo - a man after my own heart - currently discovering the Clark Ashton Smith madness after a trip to the loft unearthed one I'd bought 15-20 years back and never actually bothered to read (or possibly read it assuking it'd be Lovecraftian, when its its own beastie).  Looking on the web, looks likes theres a mini CAS revival going on, and Im torn between getting the few Panther 70s collections and the tempting seires of hardbacks that are coming out at the mo....

So, as the man says, any Clark Ashton Smith? :)

satchmo

That's what I always assumed I think, that he was just one of Lovecraft's massive, when he is so much more.
I'm reading Genius Loci, after my mate Jonathan drunkenly raved about him in the pub the other night, and Dog Deever was on about him in the chatroom too (though he seemed fairly sober!)

It's Smithmania I tell ya!

Might start a thread for him!

Ive read GL, the two Out of space and Times and am curtrently working my way through the Lost Worlds vols.  I really like his brand of fantasy, where there are no heroes (or what heroes there are meet a nasty fate), and his descriptive abilities are just full of fabulosity! :)

The Zothique set stories are my favourites so far - gotta love his necromancers!

 Ebay System Mentalism:

Why cant i add items to the I am watching list?

I click on watch this item and nothing happens.

"you must sign in or be registerd to watch this item"

I am already F ing signed in.I am already F ing registered.

I forgot about an important auction on 14th feb because of this bullshit.

Also i bidded on a 99p item only to be told that i have been outbid on this item.

Not possible since no one else is bidding. How can i outbid myself ??

Excuse the double post and foul language but this is F***** Bollox.

All i can do is place an early bid on an item that no one has bidded on or have bidded on.Whatever..I dont like doing this usually as i give away my intent as i like to sneak up on items and snatch them right at the last minute.

If i place a bid on an item that no one wants others will start to bid on it.Therefore attracting attention to the item.

Going to have to sort this out with Ebay ASAP.

I just had an amazing bit of Synchronicity on Ebay but i dont want to go all PW on you all by explaining it.

A new improved window has been introduced when you click on an item.I think this window still has glitches in it IE not fully compatible with Firefox for example.

The item in question above that i clicked on for some reason opened on the old style window which was fine.

Missed bidding on this by 3 minutes.

Its a Kev O Neill sketch of Nemisis.

Nice sketch but is it worth 41 quid ?It seems a bit over the top and way over what i would have paid.I get the impression it was yet another bidding war  and the winner paid too much for it.

My ceiling was 20 quid but i missed the bastard by 3 minutes.

Ebay is becoming a bore these days but i suppose the seller is happy.

I cant be arsed to engage in these silly bidding wars for items like this.

I disagree, it's more of a laugh nowadays.
Sometimes I just jump into a bidding war to up the price for a laugh and then jump back out again.
I remember once I pushed up the price of the 5 Diceman comics to about £35 and then a few weeks later the buyer wanted to sell them to me for that price, lol.
I wonder if he's on this board?
I have had to pay mad money for some things but hey ho! that's life. I'll go without food if I have to!

Peter Wolf

I see what you mean!I was in a last second bidding war on sunday .I was outbid but i did get a certain amount of satisfaction out of it by costing the winner 35 quid more for the item as they had to exceed my max bid.

sometimes if you can afford it you just have to *have* something.I cant find the comic art that i must have so i dont have that problem.

Its been roughly 37.5 hours since I purchased something from eBay. As I was getting back on to pay the Drokker I find a non payment dispute. C'mon, its been less than 2 days since I bought the item. If I could produce dollars from my butt I would have paid for it instantly. But I'm only subhuman.

You mean, you don't scan ebay every couple of hours, just in case you miss a great deal.
Well more fool you as you could have paid off that item and not got into a dispute. I would have marked you down for non payment and negative feedback if you didn't pay within one nano second of the auction ending.
lol.

Why are the Original Comic Art listings in Ebay full of books like the Little book of Chavs etc ?

I think its the same seller listing these here

Why not try listing them in the books section ?

 F****** idiot

I dont appreciate having to trawl through pages and pages of books to look at artwork when the Effing books dont even belong there !
