Another great game by Rockstar.

Though I haven't quite gotten all the way through as I just the helped the Warriors defeat the Orphans for scratching their Rep.

Not a bad game and not a terribly good one either.

Still Addictive though. Some people has described this as a cross between 'Manhunt' and 'Bully' (Canis Canem Edit) and some others have said it's a cross between GTA: San Andreas and 'Bully' also. I intend to find out, seeing as I haven't played 'Manhunt' or 'Bully' myself.

It's sort of like a loop-warm version GTA : San Andreas due to the liner nature of this game, more of a segmented free roaming than absolute. You can't run to the hills if things get too tough for you in the streets. ( Though there are other smaller areas where you can hide.) Alot of the ealrier levels are just boxed up mazes, though it doesn't appaer to be really boxed in. No car or boats, or aircraft that can be stolen or ridden. Except the trains. The Warriors HQ is a old two storey warehouse surrounded by lots of other buildings cutting it off from the Coney Island beach and board walk which is quite obvioulsy un-obstructed in the original movie version. Quite a oversight but there might be good reason for that once I complete the game which is set afew months or weeks before events in the movie. It leads right up until the big meeting in Gramercy park in the Bronx. The HQ itself is quite big, with training (Mats for sit-ups and push-ups, a chin-up bar and a punching bag.) facilites, a leisure lounge area where you can talk to your warrior buddies. A Radio contantly playes old late seventies hard rock and broadcasts gang related news between each misson. ( If you have seen the movie, you will understand how important the radio is.)  The t.v. set lets you replay previously unfinished levels, a pin-ball machine lets you fight in Rumble mode. ( Where you can choose members from other gangs to make up your own.) which basically lets you fight as any of the unlocked gangs or just single gang memebrs in 'one on one' mode in a number of the selected arenas. there's also a map of the railway in the New York area. I forget what that one does. There's also a chance to find out how the 'The Warriors' gang started and how there the more well known members joined up by playing them. They are called 'Flash Backs'. A nice touch, but not how I would have them done had if been in charge of making this game.

The fighting itself is more detailed that what has been used in other Rockstars made games. Not actulaley the best battle system. Though in some ways it's very realistic, except you can't break or seriously maim or dismember opponents with out killing them. Unless you know the right combos for each Warrior you get to play and can take quite a while slogging it out. As you continueously knock them over to have them get up again. Unlike any of the GTA games, serious weapons like Guns, or katanas virtually non-existant or hard to comeby. It may be all part of their warrior code. you can pick up planks of wood, a mallet, knives, but they don't last for long once you start using them.

You can be demaged and have damage healed by using Flash. Some wonder drug that fixes you up. This canbe brought from vendeors standing around on street corners and dark alleys.

There were four new aspects to this game that would be nice to see in any upcoming GTA game. ( Perhaps the next one.)

Tagging. Just like GTA San Andreas. You can drop tags in any areas where you see another gangs tag. Preferably a tag where you are pushing another gang out. This game does take it up a notch, by forcing the tagger to follow the yellow line. which is diffferent variations of the letter double-you. You end up using more paint if you screw up. You will use up one canof paint for each tag if you don't screw up, thne you use more. You can by paint from people standing around on street corners or dark alleys. Like drug pushers.

Despite not being able to steal vechiles, you can wreck them, and brreak in them and steal radios for cash.

You can also pick locks, to loot stores for merchandice for cash.

You can mug hobos or give them money for free advice.  they wont give you much cash if you mug them. You can also, mug people walking around or even enemy gang memebers. it involves grabbing them and finding their sweet spot and leaving it there until you have successfully mugged them.

Certain other aspects of this game I thought were cool were the those speical touches that they just add Like the starting cutscence which is ALMOST done scene for scene and word for word like in the movie. Except, the game version runs much faster and is noticeably abridged, but still good.

As I have watched both at the same time. The movie verson I found on You-tube. actualley I thought they way they have done this is a work of art. If you can appreciate such things.

The warrios was one those good mvies that I thought was preety badass in it's own time, but what I can only look back on as romanticism of being in a street gang and having a reputation. It's not like the American Gangs of today. What it came donw to in the movie and in this game ( as You might find out playing this game.) as well, is that these guys stood by one another and were loyal even when the chips are downa and the stakes are high.

The acting was convincing also. Not like one of these modern films where you just laugh at them trying to convince the audience that they are really the person they are portraying in their movie.

Most interesting thing about the movie is that it's based on a story surpiseingly similer to that other '300' movie that is playing right now.

Another epic post, that life is too short for.

Well, I completed the game two days ago.

It was pretty good.

( I had to cheat here and there abit, but hey I was playing it at toughest difficulty.)

I was expecting the game to end where Cyrus gets shot in the back by Luther.

But the game involves re-inacting scenes from the cult film of the same name and contiues on in this way.

I thought the chase involving the Furies that ended in the park was well done. Almost every part of this was taken from the movie. Except you had to do the fighting and you weren't given alot of choice in the matter.

My personal thoughts on this small scale warfare. It's altittle surreal, having a very comic book feel to it even.

After playing 'Armies of the Night', who would have known that Double-Dragon had always be a rip off of this film.
