Unfortunately, anybody hoping to win via the comedy route is almost certainly going to have a hard time beating this.
Pffft...

LARF

Well it looks like the guy on the left is giving the one on the right a damn fine beating to me...

Richmond Clements

Might make more sense using it on the 'one minute later' comp instead then...

Dog Deever

How about-
In celebration of the return of Jock and in honour of his fantastic cover:

2000ad characters as Jocks!

comedic route would be the most obvious a la 'the Goodies' Jocks etc, but there's scope for other stuff too.
No Scottish characters allowed, of course!

?
Just a little rough and tumble, Judge man.

Judge Merlin

That would be a whole month of Lenny Zero then?

Adrian Bamforth

Are you...are you just trying to get some artwork done for free?

Judge Merlin

Forget that last post I misread.

I thought you said 2000ad Characters by Jock.

Its 1.22am what do you expect :D

CraveNoir

I've just thought of a decent one:

Remember toys like Spider-Man's motorbike or transit van? How about 'Appropriate or Wildly Unnecessary Vehicles for 2000ad Characters'?

Queen Firey-Bou

what on earth is that picture from ?

so whats the competition going to be?  i'm crap at drawing vehicles so thats a rubbish idea.

ah ha !  a textile rendering of a 2000ad character, you know weaving, applique, free-form crochet ? excellent, thats a yes then ?

Steve Green

Bou,

The pic is from the press release when Rebellion bought 2000AD.

And coincidentally when a large proportion of the readership suffered temporary blindness.

Maybe the theme could be extended to props or costumes - e.g. Malibu Beach Hero Spiderman rather than just vehicles.

Even as a kid, I thought that a secret agent probably wouldn't have 007 written on his Lotus Esprit.

Buttonman

How about a competition where we draw 2000ad characters as they would be in another established style : for example a Dredd using the Simpsons style or Alpha as Herge would see him. The possiblities would be limitless and would perhaps hark back to the old nerve centre readers' drawings of Judge Hellraiser and the link.

Or it could be Victorian dogs once again.

You've reminded me of something I dreamt up in the early hours of Saturday after a falling-down-drunk evening out of too many pints and no tea.
Dismissed it in the morning as being a bit daft.. here it is anyway.

Design a kneepad

Trends in Mega City fashion come and go with rapid regularity. The one ubiquitous, (ultimately) indispensable item of clothing that has been sported by everyone from juves to judges, muties to megastars and even East Meg assassins to alien super-fiends has been the humble kneepad.

What would the unique selling point (USP) of your kneepad be?

What would it be made from? Could it be dual, triple or even quadruple purpose? Would your kneepad come with a celebrity endorsement?

Cheers

Obviously you're not a golfer.

James

I've been saying for years that kneepads will eventually make it into mainstream fashion, and personally I can't wait.

That and the simp canoe.
