This is an age old issue, but what is to be done with my old 2000ads - when I say old I mean about the last three or four years worth.

I don't go back and read them. Hell I barely touch my graphic novels which is why I've ebayed some of them. But I can't ebay the progs. I can't see the demand and certainly can't be arsed posting them.

I live in London, so I have a small living space and the progs have got to go. I need the room. I DO NOT want to bin them, but I'm afraid I have little option. I want them to go to a good home. Has anyone successfully offloaded progs anywhere before? Any suggestions?

Leave them randomly on buses, pubs etc. - spread the word!

Remember there are probably less free copies floating about from the last ten years than there are of the first ten.  Don't bin them, pass them onto someone like Peter who is keen to catch up on what they've missed!

And what Peter doesn't buy, consider taking the rest to a children's hospital!

WoD

I took some to a Doctors once...the receptionist looked at the comics as if they were from Satan's own pron stash.  I'm 99% sure they were binned.

mogzilla

i left someold megazines in the hospital as an alternative to lancashire life and heat. either they got binned or someone nicked them.

Bad Andy

Peter - I don't want any money for them. You can have them. Don't suppose you live in London do you?

consider taking the rest to a children's hospital

Will a children's hospital want these? I very much doubt if they'd pass muster in these prudish times.

Brighton.  Many thanks. I would have to offer something.

I am not driving at the moment so public transport only.I havent worked out the logistics yet of collecting so it depends where you are in london unless i can arrange a lift .

I have a huge pile of magazines that will go to the charity shop as i think this is the best bet.

Satanist

I tried to give about 200 mixed comics to some of the charity shops in my area. All old Batman,Spiderman,Hulk and the like. Not one of the shops would take them.

In the end I gave most of them away to my neighbours kids and binned the more offensive ones.
Hmm, just pretend I wrote something witty eh?

Children's hospitals almost certainly won't be able to take them due to nudity etc, and although you could try selling them at car boot sales you probably wouldn't cover your costs and would just end up with an incomplete collection.

I left the UK last year, and was faced with the same problem. However, very near our house there was a government-run residential home.  Obviously I don't know exactly what its function was, but presumably it was caring for either young offenders, disturbed adolescents or teenagers in care. They were incredibly suspicious of me when I rang their doorbell - and who could blame them - but once I convinced them that I wasn't trying to talk to their charges or offload mucky mags or something they were extremely happy to take my collection off my hands.  I also got thanked later on by the kid who was actually reading the progs.

Although it doesn't carry qutie the heartwarming glow of giving stuff to sick kids, I would really recommend doing something like this.  The kids in care homes are the right age to appreciate the comic, and they tend to be people who've been dumped on every which way in life.

Obviously, it's difficult to find the address of your local care homes - they tend not to advertise - but you could try either calling the council or following the link below.

If only I'd read this thread before - I've just turfed all my progs into the recycling.
Nobody warned me I would be so awesome.

Brighton might be doable Peterwolf as a) my head office is there and b) my girlfriend's home town is nearby. Sendmail me.

And believe me - you don't have to offer me anything. A year's worth are actually Byron Virgo who passed them onto me, gratis.

ThryllSeekyr

They shpould 2000Ad comic museum in every country where it is sold. The safest place I can think of that take them off your hands and then take good care of them.

Unfortunitly, I don't think these places exist.
