The funny thing is I've been going to Leeds on and off for years and I still always get lost/caught in one way systems.

paulvonscott

Sob!  Not what I wanted to hear :o

By the way if anyone who has contributed to the latest and last issue of Solar Wind wants one, let me know as I hope to be bringing some along.

We'll hopefully be getting into Leeds about half 10, so will be at the con not too long after. We're at the mercy of public transport, though.

If I'd known for certain I was coming earlier Wils, I'd have been happy to have given the pair of you a lift.

But it depended on not being at work and having Solar Wind ready in time.  It looks as though it may be, as long as the last piece turns up soon.

paulvonscott

I'm assuming you've got train tickets booked?

Wils

Cheers, Paul, but seriously don't worry about it. Although being non-drivey types (hopefully for not *too* much longer, though) we automatically plan everything around trains anyway.

Anyone else for the Thought Bubble roll call?

Bolt-01

Afraid not, but good luck getting there Paul and I hope you all have a great time.

due to being on the otherside of the earth (or in Japan, depending on when this con is) I won't be there. One of these days I'll do a UK tour.

Whatever happened to John Byrne anyway? Has he run out of more famous/talented people to get pissed off with? Has he expelled everyone from his website yet?

Floyd-the-k

aargh, I couldn't resist looking again. He's banned all references to Wikipedia, because they told lies about him and because he's a control freak.

I was going to see what he thought of Spurrier's Silver Surfer work, but couldn't find any references.

sorry for the off topicosity - enjoy your Thought Bubble

SamuelAWilkinson

Nobody warned me I would be so awesome.

paulvonscott

I really enjoyed that, a nice day out.  Saw a lot of the old familiar faces (Al, Oli, Wils, Malchi, LMS, John and Leah).

Sorry I didn't see anyone else from here, but I had no idea what to look for, and I'm sort of bland looking so you had no chance.

Anyway, very good.  If it was on again I'd happily have a stall.

And I got there and back failry easily (thanks to navigator Satchmo)

Wils

A great day out, despite a couple of niggles (the area around the town hall being a bit crap for getting something to eat and the argument that I had with someone who appeared at the front of a sketch queue like the shop keeper from Mr Ben).

Great to catch up with Paul and Ben again (and the tall fool; albeit briefly) after x amount of years and fantastic to finally meet Oli in the flesh, as well as Leah and John.

Highlights of the day include:

- Various people throughout the day, pointing to my Marvelman t-shirt nicely demanding to know where I got it from. This was marred only slightly by the bloke who shouted "Mighty Mouse!" at me as we were walking down the street.

- Bits of conversations had by the two *grown men* behind me in a sketch queue:

Blokey 1 - "Tsk! It's 'COSPLAY', *not* 'fancy dress'!"

and

Blokey 2 - "If you could meet *anyone*, who would it be? I'd love to meet Tom Baker."

Blokey 1 (in a *very* serious tone) - "I want to meet Optimus Prime."

- The utterly brilliant sketches done for me by Bryan Talbot and Barry Kitson. I'll scan these in and post them at some point.

satchmo

Wait till you see that Barry Kitson sketch, it's amazing!

Had a great time at Thought Bubble, hope they have it again next year.
