Saw this the other night and I had somewhat mixed feelings about it. In places it looks impressive, certainly, the action scenes are great, Grendel and the dragon are fantastic, and some of the faces are very well animated. (Anthony Hopkins in particular did indeed look like Anthony Hopkins, right down to little facial movements, IMHO) On the other hand, some characters looked kinda.....flat-faced. The women in particular, as if the same detail hadn't gone into them.
And the other thing about the film was it's unintentional hilarity. Having Beowulf sound like a cockney spiv rather than a Norse man-god does not make for an engaging main character, and pretty much any time he said "....I will kill your mon-STAH!!!" I kept thinking of the vampire from the Fast Show.  And in one supposedly tense scene in which Beowulf fights naked, the makers find ever more creative ways to conceal the meat and potatoes, which kinda takes away the tension.....
You're at the precipice Tony, of an enormous crossroads.

I wasn't that impressed with the clips I've seen. It looks to computer game-y to me

But my mate saw it last night in the cinema in 3D and has been raving about it

so ...might be worth a look after all

Is this as homoerotic as it looks?

I couldn't figure why no-one who reviewed is mentioned the obvious ridiculousness of his accent...and what jst looked like bad acting in the clips.

Since they 'kept' the accent, assuming it retained an authenticly British feel it's a shame they didn't keep the phisique as well - despite what the statues say there's no reason actient heros should have a superheroic phisique and six-pack (though I guess the whole film was probably easier and cheaper to keep all CGI rather that bother with those troublesome human actors, perhaps the wobbily fat would be harder to animate).

Just got back from it and, for me, it was fan-feckin-tastic. Yes some of the accents are weird, and only really the yanks are trying but it's an entertaining popcorn flick. Also: only Beowulf has a six pack the rest are kinda chubby including Brendan Gleason.

Well, there's a scene where a naked Beowulf stands full on to the camera, hands on hips,  his modesty covered only by a large sword in the foreground buried in a table. Does that count?

Watching one of the trailers for this has me wondering if Beowulf ever gets it on with Grendle's Mother.

Not a bad idea, considering that it/she looks alot like Angolina Jolie.

Do you want a spoiler thread for this? I'll happily talk about it if you do...

What? That makes absolutely no sense! For some reason I read the word stone not sword...too much work stress...

So which naked fight is better: CGI Winstone or Russian Viggo?
