Here's some comics you've never seen before.  Published in Hong Kong in the 70s by a guy called Tony "Jademan" Wong and his studio, they're just utterly demented and hyper-violent - sort of what happens when you cross the simple cartoony Japanese early 70s Go Nagai/Ishinomori style with 1950s American EC Comics and the "rivers of fake blood"-styled action movies the Hong Kong film studios were making then.  The really crazy thing is that the heroes of these comics seem to recover from the otherwise instantly fatal wounds doled out on the cover of every issue.

The company's still going and very successful, but the gore is gone.  But seriously: sweet Christmas - can you imagine your mom finding these under your bed?!

The Adventurer

It just came to me while rewatching Battlestar Galactica Season 3 tonight. It just hit me like a gong that the perfect choice for playing a live action Dredd (in TV or Film) would be...

MICHAEL HOGAN!

AKA: TV's Col. Tigh

He's got being a crotchety old grouch down pat. He's got the perfect perpetual frown. And his gravelly voice is commanding. I can almost hear him saying "I Am the Law" perfectly in my head.

Granted he's a bit old, but since Dredd's supposed to be fairly battle worn (plus most of his body is covered in uniform) that's not such a big deal, and in fact might work to the film's advantage.

What do you think? Have I gone insane?

It's a wonder violent knife crime hasn't been seen on our streets with these images.

Peace is a lie, there's only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
