I know there was talk of this book before.

This is what was meant when I heard that 2000AD/Rebellion were going to re-release the last two Slaine GN's ( One also called Warriors Dawn and the other 'TimeKiller'). AGAIN. They weren't satisfied with the cover design, printing. I thought I might add the fact that the cover material is mismatched. ( One cover is glossy and the other rough.) Not that I had I had problem with that though.

So, I was wondering if it would still make sence buy volume three which to be Published in few months or should I wait for the second verson?

The Adventurer

They're only rereleasing Warriors Dawn because they sold out of the DC/Rebellion edition. And they want to get it back into print with the current Rebellion trade dress.

Time Killers is already printed in the 'Rebellion Trade Dress' so it not getting a new release. Or if it does it's not going to look any different then the first printing.

I will never, ever get tired of looking at that piece of artwork ...

"I will never, ever get tired of looking at that piece of artwork ... "

It's very Carl Critchlow isn't it?

Hasn't dated at all.

Exactly right. I'm not sure where ThryllSeekyr's apparent vitriol comes from on this - it's not like Rebellion has arbitrarily decided to reissue the book for no reason at all. And it's also good that problems with initial prints have been addressed: there's an intro from Pat, a much, MUCH better cover (possibly my all-time favourite Sláine pic), and better paper quality (since Rebellion clearly doens't subscribe to DC's 'use crap paper for trades' line of thinking).

ThryllSeekyr

Well, I did say that the other book had a glossy cover. So I understand from what you say that it's being re-issued in the same style as book that was issued after it.

Understood:)

Re-reading my post.....

'One cover is glossy and the other rough'

It does almost sound like I'm comparing one brand of toilet paper to another.

Be assured that that was unintentional.

ThryllSeekyr

About the picture. Yep, one of my favorites, if not the only favorite.

I wonder how much Mike MacMahon would charge to duplicate this as a mural?

Wall sized.

"So I understand from what you say that it's being re-issued in the same style as book that was issued after it."

I'm glad Rebellion went its own way after the DC deal collapsed. It's pretty clear that DC 'forced' many decisions (including those related to trade dress, paper quality, and even some of the series printed), and free of such restrictions, we now have a line that has superior printing, quality control and (generally) covers. The reissued Sláine book and 'Goodbye, Krool World' are both testament to that.

TordelBack

I'll be buying this.  I've avoided the hardback reprint (too expensive, and bulky), and the previous edition (embarassingly hideous cover), but if this one has the same content plus the best colour Slaine image ever on the front, I think it's only fair that I endorse the decision it with my cold hard rapidly-dwindling cash.

Jim_Campbell

"but if this one has the same content plus the best colour Slaine image ever on the front"

Minor tangent, but didn't Belardinelli do a full colour Slaine for one of the annuals at about the time he was working in the strip? I'm damned if I can find it, but I remember it being an utterly lovely thing, all done in gouache and ink ...

Don't think that's ever been reprinted, and I'm beginning to fear my addled brain has imagined it.

Hiya Jim, Tis in the 1985 2000ad Annual... (Which has another great Micky cover...)

That Slaine cover is my all time favourite image made by art droid hand.

Grud bless that McMbot.

It was the original version of the battle of clontarf (from memory) and was the first time I saw Slaine refer to the ever-living ones.

Awesome stuff.

You could do it yourself if you know how to do it.

Do you know of the method where you enlarge it by the method of using a grid that you have drawn onto the wall.

I have never done it but i remember my cousin doing this with a Judge Dredd mural in his bedroom in about 1982.
