Dear Tharg, can we have a break from sports stories?

I've just reread Canon Fodder and I'd forgotten just how good it was.

Also, the Hogan Robo-hunters were far better than I expected.

This is what I'm talking about. Despite starting reading regularly at 309, and subsequently picking up most stuff before that date, things like Canon Fodder fall into that awful period when I lost faith.  I can't be the only prodigal squaxx that'd be interested to see the better stuff from  the dark times.

Night Zero wasn't too bad, possible worth an EE? can't imagine that ever being printed as a GN.

Has Harry 20 already been in extreme edition? i know it was reprinted in the Meg a few years back but i was unable to get them all at the time and really enjoyed what i got of it.

The Monarch

I've said it many times in the past already Canon fodder is the only good thing Millar (on his own) contributed to 2000ad and the fatc it hasen't been reprinted ever is a crime

Jared Katooie

Al's Baby 2, V.C's or Inferno (sequel to Harlem Heroes, not awful Dredd story).

ARRISARRIS

...this thread hits the nail on the head, explains why i havent read the last two editions, even thogh i usually devour my thrills straight away...

I like it when the EE reprints stuff that supports what's going on in the current prog, that possibly won't see print in any other medium.

Presently, I think there is a brilliant opportunity to plunder a bunch of mutant and Cursed Earth stories from the Megazine. Off the top of my I'm thinking 'The Wall', 'Gripper's Big Day Out' and some Harke and Burr. I'm sure there are loads more tucked away in the Meg. I reckon this would have had given the Mutant Vote in the current Dredd storyline an even bigger impact as we would have seen plenty of evidence of the pro and cons of muties.

As it is, like many others, there are a bunch of EE's that have flopped through my door that I've never read.

Wise words, Pete.

I thought so :)

With Armitage's return to the Meg a coupla months back it might have been prudent to have an Armitage EE, just remind us about him and his supporting cast. It might have helped to sell a few more EEs and Megs too.

Night Zero? No thanks.

But I agree on reprints from the 90s. I went to considerable trouble last year to draw together progs I was missing and have only these last few weeks found time to work my way through them.

Despite the large amounts of shite included in the prog in the 600s, 700s and 800s, I'm discovering several stories that are actually pretty good and I bet there are lots of readers who missed them.

Firekind thoroughly deserved the EE treatment and there are a few others in there. Canon Fodder is the best suggestion I have, but Tharg might also want to consider (just IMO) Luke Kirby, Finn or Hogan's stuff on Robohunter or Strontium Dogs.

I don't want to open another can of worms, but I was also impressed with some of the infamous Summer Offensive when I read it in order for the first time.
I particularly like Really and Truly - reprinted in the very nice Rian Hughes hardback - and was quite keen on John Smith's Slaughterbowl, which is bonkers ultraviolence.
Ooops! That's more future sport! Sorry!

Also, I'd love to see all the Big Dave strips in one place. They were bloody mental.

Yeah, Slaughterbowl is great, as (most of) Luke Kirby.  An EE would suit those well.

And the Ennis/Hogan Strontium Dogs stuff might be a toe in the water for continuing the Casefiles (although I doubt it).

The Meltdown Man EE's sold really well as far as i know, and one of the two (or poss both now) aren't available to re-order anymore yet STILL no sign of a g/n heading this way anytime soon..... unless someone here knows any different?
Cheers,
Rob.

Typical.... just checked the shop and both the Meltdown Man EE's ARE in there. i was darn sure one of 'em had sold out, unless there was another print run done? Seems somewhat unlikely though.

Cheers,
Rob.
