IMHO - I dont think hes good as a dredd artist.  Slaine, tales of telguuth, other fantasy or weird sci fi (maybe a teror tale) you get the idea, he seesm more suited too.  He has a problem with faces too, they seem to be very blocky and its hard to tell whos who, unless they have facial hair.

Having said that this story, was written by Rennie, so may have been a "filler"/one off.  Its not a bad story.  The art just makes it difficult to follow.

RT - Rennie seems to have grasped what rogue was about.  Mysteries, the weird goins on in the chem clouds.  Perfect.  The art just suits this to a T.

SD - Wagner and Carlos doing what they do best.  Brilliant.  Could do without the coloured effects, but thats hardly a moan.

VC's - Like this a lot.  Loved the original.  Abnett seems to have updated this enuff, like the vets coming to rescue the Super Soldiers Scenario Brilliant.

The only down point - well like everyone else Bison.  Last weeks was Im a good cop in a Bad world I hate technology.  This week we get.  Im a good guy using technology THAT I HATE to destroy my foe.  Cack in a word.  I was going to give it a couple of weeks, not now

This week's Dredd was by Wagner, it's the Megazine's Dredd that's by Rennie...

Oh Oh.  Looks like I got that wrong then.  Cheers Oddie

>OT, I'm still puzzled why Henry Flint isn't drawing lots more Judge Dredd apart from the Big Finish CD covers). His style is perfect for the job - he gets assigned every series except Dredd these days ... it's like having McMahon drawing Ace Trucking Co or Bolland working on Space Girls (now there's a juicy thought :)

Henry's currently working on Dredd V's Aliens, but I completely agree, the Flintmeister should be one of a small team of artists that do the art on Dredd each week.

As a reminder of how great henry's Dredd is here's a page from his work available to see on this very web site.

I agree, Dredd should be limited to a number of artists.

Off the top of my head here is my Dredd Artist list:

Bolland (but that'll never happen)
McMahon
Flint
Gibson
Dillon
Esquerra
Cam Kennedy
Ron Smith (on a good day)
Trevor Hairsine
Frank Quietly
Frazer Irvine
Garry Leach (PLEASE!!!!!)

Actually that is quite a list

Anyone else wish to add to it????

Here's my additions for the list of artists who should be allowed to draw Dredd: -

Colin Wilson (my current favourite Dredd artist)
Colin MacNeil
Jock
Kevin Walker
Cliff Robinson
Richard Elson

Generally, I agree with Uncle Unpty's list of Artists for Dredd, but I'm not sure about having McMahon or Ron Smith on the list. I mean classic McMahon can't be beat, it's the definitive Dredd IMO, but his present style is just well.....naff!

Also, is Ron Smith still alive and kicking? I haven't seen his work for ages and he must be getting on a bit by now. Hasn't he been drawing comics since the 1940's?

ron smith?
i have a piece of orignal ron smith art of dredd. would he realy fit in dredds world as it now?
so clean and clincal and sharp. but background a little lacking, with new mature storylines of dredd, i wonder if ron smith could acheive it? rico he would be great for, but dredd? im not so sure.so many things have abearing these days. and i have said it before its all in the details,
though im a big ron smith fan, i just wonder if its a decsion thats been made about using smith.
I AM VERY BUSY!

I believe the mighty Ron Smith has since retired from drawing comics. Can anyone confirm this?http://www.2000adonline.com/covers/2000ad/thumbnails/211thumb.jpg">

I had hoped those days were over, but alas...

Maybe he's been sent to wreak vengeance on our message board for unbridled criticism! We may see him here yet! We'd be as well having a King Troutman strip! Those in favour say FISH!

NEGOTIATION'S OVER!

You missed Shakey Kane off of the list.
