Come on tharg throw me a bone here

Star scan, reprint, new series anything please?

Grant Goggans

Boy, didn't take you long to start talking about the Canon on the new board, did it?

Dark Jimbo

Bless 'im.

Go on, Tharg, you can't fault the poor boy's dedication.

For what it's worth I actually wouldn't mind seeing this, if only because it's from before my time so I've never read it - and how can you go wrong with Chris Weston?
@jamesfeistdraws

Satanist

Wouldnt mind a reprint just to see what all the fuss is about.

Cmon Tharg, Y'know you want to.
Hmm, just pretend I wrote something witty eh?

Cthulouis

Woo! We're back!

Canon Fodder was before my time too, so I'd like a chance to see it.

Rio De Fideldo

Thinking about it now in my opinion the best thing about Cannon Fodder was the art.

I'm struggling to remember much about either of the series although I know the first was written by Mark Millar.

When I was reading it in the weekly I seem to remember thinking that it was going to pan out differently. There was a everyone-who's-ever-lived-coming-back-to-life-but-not-as-zombies scenario (I think) which seemed like it may be interesting (can you imagine the overcrowding on the tube?) but it went in a different direction. Deacon Blue??

Can anyone (The Monarch perhaps?) provide me a quick synopsis of what happened and what makes Cannon Fodder an interesting character. How would YOU bring him back?

Rio De Fideldo

QuoteHow would YOU bring him back?

And THAT'S to EVERYONE not just The Monarch

Buttonman

I'm a Fodder fan too and it was easily one of the best strips in a bleak period.

Spoilers Follow and I can't work the tags! - beware!

<spoiler>
From memory: Canon Fodder pursues Sherlock Holmes with the help of Holme's  brother Mycroft who has entered the kingdom of heaven to kill god. They meet Satan who claims to have killed God but is proven wrong when God shows up and kills him with a flick of his finger. Fodder is spared when he asks the almighty the ultimate question.

The second adventure 'Dark Matter' sees the world in peril and only Fodder and the few remaining members of the priest patrol can save the day. They journey to a neverworld where the Canon narrowly escapes back to our reality after fighting dark matter visions of himself and others. An orgone bomb fashioned by Nicolai tesla (?) nullifies the threat.</spoiler>The second series ended unconclusively and aopen to a further outing. I understand it is in creator owned limbo as Millar claims to own the character even though he didn't write the second adventure. I saw on Chris weston's blog that he volunteered to arbitrate in the Zenith dispute; maybe he should raise this one too!

How to do a comeback?

Fodder's housekeeper Sadie is pregnant and telepathic bolts from her womb are causing mass suicides. The Canon is clearly against abortion but if he doesn't solve the mystery of the conception before the birth all hell could break out. The only clue : a Rypronol laced tea and cookie on his own bedside. The very last remnants of the Priest Patrol ( Minister Sinister, Verger Merger and the Freakin' Deacon') investigate with Crowley, Hitler and Paul Weller on their shit list. Me to script and Weston on art if I'm too busy.

I hope tharg is reading this as I am never gonna give up until this series gets a reprint (even if it means no more letters in the letters page and buttonman kicking my backside in the contest)

that is how much dedication I give to my cause!!!

Mangamax

Yeah, great concept with greater art.
Only trouble i have with it is every time Deacon Blue pops up i get crap 80's band flashbacks.
The perspective on that chairs all wrong

Noisybast

Dan Dare will return for a new adventure soon, Earthlets!
