All this new technology is confusing me today! Can anyone explain the different ways of posting images in messages?

The FAQ's say

Can I post images?
Yes, images can be shown in your posts. If the administrator has allowed attachments, you may be able to upload the image to the board.

How can we tell if attachments are allowed? Several threads display images, eg the monthly art comps. If these images have all been placed online, rather than copy'n'pasted into the actual reply (which i've tried!), then what sort of websites are they uploaded to? How do they display without all the rest of the website's gubbins showing (I have photos on Flickr - if I posted a link, would it display my pic only or just link to the flickr website?)

Apologies if I'm being truly dim or if this has been asked and answered before - I've tried a search but couldn't find anything useful.

Yeah, 3D, Firstly; There's a img button above yer post box. Use it with a Web URL or, if you have a file image, get a photobucket account, upload them onto that and then transfer them from there onto here. Once you are in photobucket, the rest is a portion of tart.

flickr does the same thing? Have both!

I'm up and running on photobucket now - it gives me 4 options to share the link to my photo:

Email & IM  
Direct Link  
HTML Code  
IMG Code  

whcih should I select?

Go with IMG. . No need to use the button. It'll copy a soon as yo click on. good Luck!!

It already has the IMG code on the URL.

DO NOT use the IMG button ontop of this. It only cancels it out.

The direct link option seemed a better bet, and seemed to be working up to the point it told me that i could only have 700 pixel width. Now i need to find out how to convert a hi-res image to something with fewer pixels.

but not tonight. I hate technologyy sometimes. I'm too old to keep learning new shit!
