They've just announced a prequel to Halo (Halo 3: Recon).

It doesn't feature Master Chief. Instead, you play a Recon Marine, whatever that is (a hard-ass one army probably).

It's out for next Christmas. Here's the trailer:

Bah! There was me reading the thread title but not the topic and thinking 'Oh, cripes! Alan Moore and Rebellion must have come to some sort of agreement! Happy days!'

WoD

If it's an expansion and not a prequel...then I bet it does feature Master Chief at some point.

I was getting quite excited about this until I realised its not out for another whole year. Is it going to be downloadable or a boxed game?

I really hope it's not stealth-based as the trailer seems to suggest. I can't stand stealth games.

Sorry to disappoint, guys and gals, but it is on the "Games" forum!

Halo ODST
got mine on pre order,

using many of the maps of HALO I II & III but with a time line before master chief arrived, more cover and gun aspects. good side missions.

not a real stand alone game, but a great GTA style addition i believe. which works for me.

NO 2000ad no life!

Devons Daddy

ok got it

well, ok its not bad. its an add on but its carrying a full blown game price, which is not so clever,

i like it, you get a lot of extras which you may have if your a HALO hero, and purchased everything they offered on DLC.if you did not, its good to get the stuff.

but really dont buy this month, wait till after christmas and get it at a lower price. or rent it.

not a WOW experience, its solid enough, but if it did not hold the HALO title, it would not be high in the sales charts.  ::)

was hoping for more, or would have been happy with a lower price. bang for buck NO.
get batman. you will not regret that purchase.

Been playing this the last few days, and while it's enjoyable enough (more Halo is always welcome) I'm not convinced that the free-roaming city-hub sections work very well. They just seem a little dull and unexciting.

It's kind of annoying stumbling your way through the dark, indistinguishable city streets having to resort to the irritating night vision VSR all the time, and I'm finding that I'm just rushing to the next 'flashback' bit as they're way more fun. I also don't like the old-fashioned health pick-up system, which seems to have been re-implemented to appease people who whinge about Halo's regenerating shield set-up.

The 'detective/noir' 'influence' that Bungie have been harping on about is just a load of pretentious nonsense.

Can't comment on the fantastic-looking Firefight mode yet, as I'm saving this for after I'm done with the Campaign, but the second disc is totally lost on me, as aside from co-op playing online bores me to tears.

Bah, this fucking game!!! I'm enjoying it well enough but I played through the campaign for nearly four hours last night then my arsehole internet went off, disconnecting me from xBox Live.

On re-connecting, it lost my last save and took me miles back - I was tight at the end too. Grrrr!

Firefight mode is superb - but the lack of matchmaking is infuriating! I'll never be a long-term online gamer, preferring to dip in and out - so I don't have a massive friends list!

If anyone wants to play sometime, add me  - (co-op or Firefight) my name tag is KissMammal.

Bought it the day it came out, took it back the next day, so boring. Is it not about time they wised up, and started letting you take cover like Gears or Rainbow 6, who have been doing thhis for years. Same goes for Call of Duty, which is a great game, though why they went back to WWII I'll never know after Modern Warfare?  I'm sure ODST will sell well & will go down well with the die hard player.
