Playstation 2, X - box, gamecube or camcorder?

And why?

Jared.

Oddboy

PS2 for DVD out of the box.
X-box for Halo (no not Jones unfortunately).
Never used a gamecube.

Never used a gamecube.

Monkey Ball is currently the game of choice on Gamecube. However it may be toppled by the new Mario game or the next Perfect Dark.

Devons Daddy

as im out here in the far east, lamd of piracy ;~)
here is the basic facts,

PS2 easliy modified, chiped, corrupted, meaning easliy made ready to play pirate versions of all games avaible, at a fraction of cost of origanl,

Game Cube, local merchants have limited stocks of these prate games as they are not hugely popular out here, nintendo never really took hold with its family style. cube can be adapted but only a handful of merchants offer this service,

XboX hot damn halo to die for, but all the sellers are currently shying away from offering the equipment as they have to be licensed to sell, and are not allowed to even consider selling pirate copies, microsoft very hot on this, raids on weekly basis,

so really, its about availibitly of soft ware and price curently PS2 out here at the moment wins hands down, not so sure about the UK of course.
but the things listed above worth a note'

Personally, I'd delay choosing until I knew for sure which systems the Dredd game was going to be released for. Or go for the camcorder, that way you could create things instead of just rotting your brain. Or you might be able to get a gamecube and a cheap camcorder for the price of one of the other options.

But if everyone bought pirated software then developers would soon go out of business & we wouldn't have any new games to play on. I don't know why but I really hate piracy, I wouldn't go out and shoplift a game, or buy knocked-off games cheaper, so why should i turn to piracy instead. I consider it to be as bad as nicking stuff. Mind you, I do think we pay too much for stuff in this country, maybe if developers dropped the amount we pay for games then piracy might not be as rife. Well that's my rant over, I'll get off me soapbox now.

Jared Katooie

I'm pretty pro-piracy as my nearest and dearest can attest. Piracy with limitations that is. If you can afford something then pirating it is just rude. Unless it's a cruel faceless corporation - sock it to 'e! etc.

Sorry again about the posts. I went a bit.. well psycho really it wont happen again. Not until the moons in the right alignment I mean.

Generally Contrary

Matt,

I have a feeling that Devon wasn't speaking of 'piracy' in the sense of copied games, but rather, as supported by his references to 'adapting' and 'chipping' the consoles, to games imported from beyond their region of release.  This practice is perfectly defensible, as, if companies want the right to scour the world for cheap labour, the consumer should be able to obtain their products from the same market.

all fair commnets above, but to point out,

microsoft is the worlds biggest money maker, the pirate copies of windows dont seem to stop them developing new stuff same for games,

now i have a modified PS1, can play games from any where in the world, my fathers cannot, i can buy orginal games out here, but they are black and white with no sound on his PS1.
this is disgraceful.

as for pirate games, they dont last that long, very fragile, scratch with ease, if its a great game i get the original after trying the local market copy,.
consumer chioce is the truth, as for game compaines stop producing games, YEH RIGHT, that will happen wont it, imagine what is going to happen to the music industry now we have cassettes,oh sorry that was 30 years ago, what about mini discs? no that was 8 years ago, MP3 oh my, the end is near.
its not going to happen, if you cant afford a real copy get a pitrate version, when you can afford it you will upgrade, till then you deserve to enjoy every thing,.

so get what you want and enjoy it all. lifes to short to worry to much,

But when you've worked really hard on something such as game or a piece of music, and you've put a lot of your time & energy into it why shouldn't you reap the benefits? Basically piracy is taking money out of the pockets of creatives & not just big faceless corporations.

Oddboy

But not when it's otherwise unavailable.
e.g. if you want to get a KLF album well TOUGH!  They've deleted their back catalogue.  If someone offers you a tape of it, what are you gonna do?  The KLF & their record company wouldn't get your money either way because they're not selling it anymore.  If you find an original of the album in question at a jumblesale or on eBay or whatever then you can get the original, but the creators still don't get a penny.
Sure, reaping rewards is nice an' all but what about the music, maaaan.  Anyone want's a taped/MD copy of my CD, just send me a blank tape/MD & an SAE & I'll pirate it for you.

My favourite pirate is Evil Blood.

Back to the plot.

I've got an Xbox.

It's really good, except there's a bit of a quality game drought at the moment. But Online gaming should be coming soon.

Does anybody read EDGE?

HiEx

I'd say get a PS2 as there is a fantastic selection of great games available such as Ace Combat 4, the Armoured Core series, Devil May Cry, etc to name just a few of my favourites.

Also, the X-Box is absolutely huge. My friend had to hire a crane and knock down one wall just to get the damn thing inside his house! OK, so I'm exaggerating just a bit, but the X-box is one huge mutha compared with other consoles.

Also, the PS2 looks cool. The X-Box IMO looks kinda sucky. Also, I hate to support Bill Gates.

HiEx

Matt

PS2 is cool, just don't buy it with Metal Gear Solid. Far too easy and full of bloody video sequences the longest of which came out at 40 minutes.

Matt

Fair point Oddboy. Don't suppose you've got a copy of Bomb the Base "Into the Dragon"? I've been after that album on CD for years after my vinyl copy got far too shagged to play any more.
