Well, I've asked my sister who really should have known the answer despite her rather weak excuse ("Oh, I don't listen to the charts, anymore . . . Is it 'American Boy' by Estelle?"), so I'm turning to you.

There was a dance track that came out last year (I think) but I've no idea what it's called nor whom it's by. Whispy female vocal. The chorus lyric was something like "Such a beautiful lie/life". It's up-tempo but downbeat. I've already tried YouTube but the only things coming up for the aforementioned line are 30 Minutes to Arse, some naff Japanese pop act, and sodding Arse of Bass.

And no, it's not 'Beautiful Liar' by Beyonce and SHAKARA! SHAKARA! (yes, I know, but how else was I going to get you to read this thread?).

Soz, I've no idea about your query, but I do know that over the coming days I'll forget what this thread is about and check it again at least a dozen times thinking it's about Shakara. BASTARD!

But I'll throw another query out there to keep yours company. I nicked a load of MP3s off a mate, many of which he'd guessed the titles. One is listed as XTC by XTC, but I'm pretty sure it isn't. It's an old-skool house tune, with a lady singing in Spanish (I think?), with the refrain "ectasie totale" Doesn't sound like anything else by XTC, but I only know a few of their songs.

I had to wait *years* before i found out by chance that the unknown song that i liked and remembered was Daylight Katy by Gordon Lightfoot.

I have another song that remains unsolved for about 25 years.

Jared Leto's outfit 30 Seconds to Mars have a song with similar lyrics...  Not a woman, but you never know with these Hollywood types, especially the ones that sound like they've been named by Frank Herbert.

Forgot to mention also that the song builds up to a big climax (including, I think, the use of a rather excitable penny whistle), then stops suddenly with only a Spanish(?) guitar being strummed vigourously.

But could any of you help me out.. On commercial radio there is a directgovt.net advert with a whistling song on it. does anyone know what piece it is from as my 4 year old son loves it.
