Bags and boxes and boards, oh my!

Quick question for the Collective.

It's become a matter of some urgency that I get my hands on at least two hundred 2000AD-size comic bags, two hundred backing boards and two comic boxes. Could someone recommend the best (read: cheapest) place on the Internet to order these? Or would someone have some knocking about that I could buy/exchange for something?

As I say, it's got to the point of being vital.

Cheers,

A cheap, for now sort of solution.
I found that certain supermarket freezer/food bags have the correct dimensions - at a fraction of the cost of custom bags. The quality isn't there and they have printing on them, but they do the trick if you are in a spot. Some of them are re-sealable bags too!
Some packing boxes for wine are also the correct dimensions... as for boards not sure how to "Blue Peter" them quickly in quantity and on the cheap! (perhaps cut corrugated card and put in the stack every 20 progs or so?).
Good luck with it...

I get that sort of thing from Incognito Comics.

Just wondering having a little spare X-Mas cash and a desire to sort by comics out to make them more accessible. These comics from Incognito look a very snug fit (my preference) is this the case?????

Having recently boarded and bagged all my 2000AD and Megazine comics, provided that you purchase the correct boards and bags, they do become a nice tight fit.

I purchased the collectorline bags from Forbidden Planet whilst buying my backing boards from http://www.jrcomicsandcollectables.co.uk/about.php Remember that you will need two different bag and board sizes for 2000AD due to the differing comic sizes.

The bags cost me £3.99 per 100 whilst the boards were about £7 per 100 as I bought about 1500 of them.

Hope this is of assistance

Nice one cheers.

Just stumbled across JRcomics the other day after posting and the seem a good deal. I was going to purchase the lot from them but will look into the Forbidden Planet deal. Was that a price driven thing as the measurements on the JR bags and boards seems a good fit?

Not really, I acquired approx 6-700 of the Collectorline bags filling in my missing gaps so continued with that theme and purchased the remainder from Forbidden Planet. I have however bought some of John's bags and have my Action, Crisis, Tornado, Starlord & Battle comics kept in those. They are a thinner material than the collectorline bags but more than adequate.

His backing boards are cheaper than anywhere else that I could find and are of a good quality. I have used Type F & H to back my 2000AD's. H for progs 520-1300ish and F for pre 520 and post 1300ish.

You just need to ensure that the bags that you get match the boards - I got the 9 3/4" x 11 1/2" to match with the F boards and 9 1/2" x 12" for the H ones.

Nice one you're a star. Thanks for the advice. To the Internet...

Well just a quick up date and I can heartly recommend JR Comics. Great deal on the boards. I ended up going for the Collectorline bags bought from Silveracre which worked out the best deal but have to say they are a perfect fit and now all I have to do is persuade my wife that an few hours in the attic bagging and boarding while she looks after the little 'un will be a good use of everyone's time.

Depends on the age of the comics, really. 2000 AD's changed shape a bunch of times, so there's a gap at the sides of more recent issues with those boxes. I just use magazine files to keep the comics in half-empty boxes upright until the boxes are full, at which point it doesn't matter a great deal whether they're very snug or not.

Hello all,
Does anyone know a source of "old style" 2000 AD comic bags in the US? I found a plethora of stores in the UK, but the shipping costs are insane. I know that the pre-500ish 2000ADs are wider than almost any other comic, especially US-format comics.

Failing that, does anyone know a UK store with reasonable shipping prices. I need about 300 bags.

Thanks!
