I don't want to believe it!

I was on a jury on a case just like this at Guildford Court a few years ago.
It is very difficult to come to a decision when the allegations are from over 20 years ago and there are no witnesses and in our case only one person there to back up the accuser.
I got the impression that some members of the jury decided the guy was guilty straight away because of the nature of the alleged crime but you really have to think hard and discuss all possibilities in the jury room before making your decision. It's a big thing when you realise what impact it has when you decide wether anyone is guilty or not.

In our case it went to a majority verdict and the case was dismissed. It turned out that it was the third time it had come to court and each time the jury reached the same decision.
Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side.

Devons Daddy

innocent until proven guilty

i shall await the verdict,
if true then we treat him like gary glitter, for he deserves nothing but our contempt
, if not true, then we should  let him know here he is respected.and we did not pass judgement without knowledge.
I AM VERY BUSY!
PJ Maybe and I use the same dictionary, live with it.

NO 2000ad no life!

Thank God TV hasn't picked up on this yet, or we could expect "all comic book readers are homicidal peadophiles" jibes. Not what our hobby needs. Especially if it means 2000ad is taken of the shelves.
Or am I just being paranoid?

A tad paranoid, I think.

Gary Glitter didn't bring about the doom of vacuous pop music - more's the pity.

Why on earth should it?

I don't really see the point in speculating on this until the case is over.

Nor do I.

I guess it's just difficult to see a person one admires, respects and even - in the case of many on this board - grew up with being brought into question by something like this.

My last post was flippant, and I sincerely apologise for that, but please let's not turn this into an "if he's guilty" thread. As far as I am concerned, at this moment he is innocent, he is a hero of mine and I support him. Period.

I'm certainly not pre-empting the outcome of this case,I'm merely  commenting on how the media often loves to put a spin on things and you can't beat a good scapegoat, especially now they're bored of blaming Marilyn Manson and computer games for all of societies ills-comics could be next.
I'm going to calm down with a cup of cocoa now.

I wonder if that'll be reported in the Sun..?

Bolt-01

Thanks for letting us know Mike. I hope that now they'll all be able to put this behind them and move on with life. My thoughts go out to all involved in this sorry little story.

Woohoo! Cheers Longman, you made my day!

Well this is the thing, It ought to be and at the same size of the reporting of the prosecution's points.

It never is though is it?

If it's mentioned at all, it will be buried away somewhere.

Cheers,
