Hi there

Just wondered if anyone remembers the Incredible Hulk comic from Marvel UK from 1982.

I've been searching for it on the Comic Book Database and can't find it.

I can find the first couple of Hulk weekly's etc but it must have relaunched as I have an issue no 1 from 1982.

It featured The Incredible Sulk by Lew Stringer and also loads of those Roar adverts by Steve Dillon.

I believe it also had a poster by Brian Bolland which had previously been used as the first cover for the previous series.

Any help from tjose who recall it and also why it doesn't seem to be mentioned with the other Marvel UK Hulk publications.

Hulk Weekly also carried the Black Knight strip that featured Captain Britain just to the Alan Davis stuff. Its a great strip with art by John Stokes and I think written by Steve Parkhouse... need to dig this out to be sure about that?

Anyway that strip available in volumes 3 and 4 (out soon) of Panini's Cap Britian reprints if that's of interest.

There's a little more info about the other original materials at Wikipedia if you fancy using that (grrrr)

The GCD lists titles as per what's printed on the indicia inside, and not what necessarily appears on the cover. So check the indicia and try again would be my advice.

I remember the weekly from '79 and am pleased to hear they are reprinting the Black Knight stories (hope they keep them in BW). I pretty much gave up on Marvel UK after this mag folded and Dr Who went monthly.

As for the 1982 mag, you could also try e-bay:

I have the first issue and its deffo from 1982. I imagine it was a relaunch to tie in with the TV programme as there were lots of photos or Bill Bixby and Lou Ferringo.

I've already looked at the wikipedia site and there's no mention of it. Also I saw those items on Ebay and the comic logo (very 1980s) doesn't match the gallery on GCBD.

I still need help.

I have quite a few of the Marvel UK Hulk comics (and most of what information I have is on the Wikipedia page and comicbookdb entry) but they are the ones that ran from 1979 to 1980 (the one the Wikipedia entry and various comic book databases list).

Looking at that eBay list I definitely have some of those as the photo covers were pretty distinctive (more the kind of thing Doctor Who Magazine were doing at the time) - I'd have to go through my box of old comics but it looks like I have issues 8 and 14. Just going by memory I seem to recall that they were largely reprints of older Marvel Comics with an eye to cashing in on the TV series. Hulk Comic stands out because it was made up of a lot of original stories (Nick Fury, Hulk, Captain Britain/Black Knight and Night Raven) with some reprints (early Ant-Man stands out in my memory). So, I suppose, with so many comics needing indexing in databases most people haven't bothered indexing something which is mainly reprints. However, I'll dig out what I have and see if that matches my recollections.
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

Ah, this was 'The Incredible Hulk!' weekly, with the cool "underlined" logo, yes?- reprinting the Herbe Trimpe strips? I have a number of these upstairs, all bought off eBay over the last year. Being a nostalgic collector of MWOM has led onto a love of all these UK Hulk publications along the line. MWOM, Hulk comic, Marvel Superheroes, Hulk Weekly, Rampage magazine and The Incredible Hulk!

The trouble I have found with this particular title, is that it's almost impossible to find them on eBay, because even a uk-specific search for "the incredible hulk" will return MWOMs, Hulks, loads of other comics and even US titles.

I know it went to at least 25 issues and there were at least two associated Summer Specials. Any more than that, well, I'm finding it out as I go along. The only other thing I can tell you is that I associate it with Rice Crispies! Which I guess means I had it delivered to the house, and I used to read it over breakfast.

But yes, on packaging only, it's by far my favourite of the weekly Hulk titles.
