That sounds like it belongs in a gay S & M club Jim, have you been watching Friedkin's Cruising again?

A gay S&M club, you say? Surely, you mean this?

Cheers!

No chance it's the loverly Rihanna you're thinking of, Batson?

Even if Rihanna wasn't the right answer, I must say that was very enjoyable and diverting! Kind of confusing, calling her cover of Tainted Love 'S.O.S.', but it was very, very jolly indeed.

Then don't click on Jim's last link. I had to flagellate myself with this week's prog after it.

Rammstein are so cool! They just don't care, do they?

I'm absolutely convinced that they're some kind of incredibly clever performance art collective who are exploring, well, whatever the fuck it is they're exploring, via the means of being the biggest-selling German language band in the world!

They're quite happy to subvert their entire industrial metal macho schtick with something like this, or perform an entire video in fat suits, or pretty much just take the piss, or do something genuinely disturbing, like this.

I'm very excited at the prospect of a new album.

Cheers

Well that's just great Jim, thanks a bunch.  I am now interested in Rammstein.  Some of that was... not bad - original, even.  The fact that I can't understand a word of it undoubtedly helps.

I was also surprised to see that You-Tube hosts videos of angels simulating fellatio while having their wings plucked.

On the subject of videos it's surprising to see on YouTube, and one of Rammstein's handful of songs in English, is Depeche Mode's Stripped.

I mention it because its use of Leni Riefenstahl's astonishing footage from the 1936 Berlin Olympics was seized upon at the time to sling accusations of Nazi sympathies at the band. I find the song's lyrics placed along side images of some disgracefully supine appeasement of Hitler's regime to be both splendidly subversive, and somewhat accusatory.

YMMV. obviously. but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Cheers!

Contemporary subversion aside, that's some amazing footage.  I only know Riefenstahl from Triumph of the Will, but that Olympic stuff is disturbingly fantastic.  Those Nazi thugs had access to some seriously creative talent.
