The original isnt a classic but its still a good film .

Not sure if a remake is necessary really.Leave it alone.Think of something new FFS.

The director of Fast and Furious ?

Wow i can hardly contain my lack of anticipation and excitement for this film.

That's the best bit!

Absolutely right - it's the heart and soul of the movie.

My mum watched it way back when on the recommendation of a friend, before I'd even heard of it. Now, my mother doesn't do fantasy and SF and horror, and certainly doesn't do chopping off heads, but that sequence with the aged Heather walking up the hill made it work for her.

That said, the whole curse of immortality thing is a wee bit of a cliche for fans of the genre, so I wonder whether a remake has anything new to say or do.

I dont give a damn about who's going to play the FRENCH SCOTSMAN,

Who the hell is going to play the SCOTTISH EGYPTIAN, or even the AMERICAN RUSSIAN.

PS it won the oscar for BEST FILM EVAR..
"Save Trees, Eat Beavers"
"Animal Rights: Animals have the right to be tasty"

Not being contrary here but I really don't think the original is a stone cold classic by any stretch.

I recall thinking it cool when I was 16 but I saw it again recently and I actually do NOT think it stood the test of time.  It seemed a badly paced, ineptly executed, over-edited, cacophonous mess to me.
Funnily enough, if I'm sober when I watch it I really love it but if I'm drunk I keep finding flaws with the editing and the like.

However, as my mate pointed out at the weekend, this is a film so good Kurt Cobain quoted it in his suicide note!

It was a pretty bad movie to begin with.  Fun, but not great.

Cobain?  Awful musician, completely undeserving of the adulation heaped upon him post-mortem.

How about that heaped upon him when he was alive?

The idea of a remake featuring Christian Bale is pretty awful  as is Gerald Butler .

just imagine in 50 years time when a biopic is made about Christian Bale whoever played Christian Bale would have to get into their "Method" by studying planks of wood in great detail for months to prepare for the role.

Nope, didn't deserve any of that either.  When Nirvana first came out I already owned Pixies and Sonic Youth records, didn't need them diluted for the general public.  Almost all their contemporaries (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden etc) were a hell of a lot better than them too.  Yawn.

I rated the Nirvana unplugged Lp very highly but didnt get into the rest of it very much.

I'm not a great fan of Nirvana, but it's a bit of a stretch to call the lumpen, plodding likes of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden better just because the press picked Kurt as their poster boy.

Bush were way better than Nirvana.

Who needs subjectivity ?

Bush is all very well, but I prefer Hole myself.

I see Frazer Hines was oh, so conveniently omitted from the nominees. Although a role in the inevitable sequel (assuming the remake's a success) might be more appropriate . . .
Not sure if pervert or cheesecake expert.

As do I, and I also think Pretty on the Inside is a fabulous record. I've always felt it was a terrible shame the way Courtney's talent was wasted when she got caught up with that good-for-nothing wastrel.
