Ha! Just completed the demo for this and it's outstanding! I'm a big fan of Tenacious D so the humour in this was spot on for me. In fact, my boy came to see what I was laughing hysterically at several times - I can't think of a game that's done that to me before.

The game itself is like a mix of a beat-em-up, platformer, GTA and Rockband. Graphics-wise it's like playing inside an Iron Maiden LP cover, it's really stunning in places. This game is cool, give it a blast!

ThryllSeekyr

I heard thsi one is in development hell.

I heard baout a year ago, and though it might be interesting. It's got that plastecine type cartoon graphic, but in 3d.

Lots of eye candy, there

Goaty

It moved publishers to EA when Activision dropped it, but then when it was finished, Activision kicked up a fuss and tried to get it blocked from release.

Thankfully that's all sorted out - the demo is amazing, and I can't wait for this to be released :)

Aye, thinking about it, some of the landscapes in this reminded me of one of my favourite Dredd strips ever - 'Behold the Beast' story from the 1983 Judge Dredd annual. Even more reason to like it!

one word
AWESOME

and a damn cool soundtrack

The Enigmatic Dr X

Laughed at the trailer, which had words along the lines of:

"What do we do with a load of teenagers who do nothing but rock their heads?"

"What do we do? We start a revolution!"
Lock up your spoons!

Listening to one the Tenacious D cd that I own. The one they made before their movie. I understand Jack Black does the voice of the Eddie Riggs.

Obviously not in development hell then.

Strangely, I was thinking of some of the more colourful Slaine strips when I saw some footage of it some time ago now. Minus all the modern stuff

Yeah, that could be Slaine, you know.

Any Tenaciuos D.?

Had been looking forward to this (was a big fan of the Lucasarts adventures the guy did when I was a kid), but the demo has actually killed my enthusiasm. It's got charm by the bucketload and is genuinely funny, but the gameplay was a bit button  mashy and I found it got dull before the demo was even finished. Might still be worth a play for the laughs (the language and gore options were genius) but I'd expected more from the actual game than a really basic God of War clone. Here's hoping there's more to the finished product.

May give this a shot, but much as I enjoyed the likes of Full Throttle and Grim Fandango, I found Psychonauts to be very overrated - just couldn't get into it at all. Also, I'm not into metal and can't stand Jack Black or Tenacious D!

mogzilla

thryllseeker, not sure what tracks are on there but ozzy and i believe lemmy make an appearance and as jack is the hero surely there should be some in there?

Roger Godpleton

Not too sure about purchasing this though I did like it. I want platforms damnit! Oh, and Radiator's opinion on Psychonauts is wrong.
He's only trying to be what following how his dreams make you wanna be, man!

QuoteRadiator's opinion on Psychonauts is wrong.

Granted it had some cool ideas, but overall I thought the fiddly controls, poor camera, frustrating bosses and confusing level design killed it for me.

I also thought the art direction was fundamentally flawed - the contrast between the 'real' and 'imaginary' worlds wasn't strong enough - the whole game was so stylised that the supposedly 'crazy' parts didn't stand out enough - unlike, say, the 'dead' and living' worlds of Schaefer's own Grim Fandango.

A shame, as I really thought I'd love the game.

I spend the first few levels thinking "is this what all the fuss is about", but eventually it clicked. The suburbia level I found particularly amusing.

Yeah, I read on the Wiki that the appaerance of Eddie Riggs was at one stage based on Lemmy Kilmister.

Concept Art below.

Another interesting fact is that Eddie Riggs comes from Eddie the Head and Derek Riggs his creator.

Speaking of Lemmy, he looks alot like the Golamh dude from Slaine Books of Invasions
