ThryllSeekyr

Then maybe you like Demigod

I have just about spent the entire weekend playing the demo.

It's mildy addictive through it's simplistic set up and ease of play.

There is no base building, as you only have to defend your citidal, although the Rook can raise Light Towers which is about as close to making buildings as you can get.

Everything is already layed out for you. All you have to do is order your chosen about the playing area.

In the game is number of flags that you need to have this game avatar of yours standing next to in order for it to be theirs. Taking flags allows you to control the map and can improve speicific gasme conditions like in Warhammer 40k's Dawn of War series. Defending a flag mearly requireing the presence of your Demigod. I'm not sure how flags are realy contested between opposing sides except that the dominant player on that part of the map will own. COntroling a flag allows you exclusive access to any nuetral building  or portal nearby.

Apart from your Citadel, Healing crystal, Item shop and the guard towers on your side of the map are these two portals that will periodically spew fourth minotaur warriors,  insectiod archers, withthe adition of magic chair riding bishops, sword weilding angels, ballista bearing dinosaurs and giants. That can purchased through you Citadel aamong other upgrades.

Depending on what Demiogod, you have chosen. Their are choices along the lines of assassin/hero or general. The latter can purchase their personal entourarge of warriors, cannnoeers, and Bishops. That can be summoned to your avatar's side at any time.

The game itself feels like fantacy chess stratedgy game and risk. Not exactly, but it's feels like it's approaching that calibre of game.

The game is inspired by popular Warcraft Three Mod and it's clearly seen that most of the Demi-gods looked like they have been exported with a make over from the earlier game. Of course, they are improved, but it's hard to ignore some of the similarities. The female riding a giant cat, and the Night Elve Moon goddess. The Rook and the Ancient Guardian, The Vampire and the Doom lord to name a few. Sorry if that was inaccurate, I forget the exact units names from Warcraft Three it's been ages since I seen that game. Actulley, I like to see another Warcarft RTS with this much attention to graphical detail.

It reminds me of concept art work for the Planescape role playing game. They did make a computer game called Torment useing the same mechanics engine from Baldars's Gate.

Of the demo I have played, I think it has a sub-routine that doesn't allow you to play the after you have been playing the game for a while. I've already hads to three or four time delete/ reinstall this game as well restoring the computer files to how they were the day before. I'm quite satified with the demo experience. Installed form magazine disk, it allows you to play four out of the eight Demi-gods and one of the game maps.

The map, which appaers to be the entire top floor of a sand bricked tower surrounded by clouds. Sections of the floor are missing revealing a system of aquaducts with water pouring out of the sides just below the top. It's quite nice to watch, it's rather soothing amongst the other chaos happening on top. It looks deceptively like a pleasant place for one of your soldiers to land should they be brushed aside. It would be interesting to have the playing field extended several floors down. Perhaps after renervating. Giving another dimnesion to the game area.
