Peace is a lie, there's only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.

I'd recommend Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli films, not all of them have fantastic stories, but the artwork is bloody lovely.

Dominion Tank Police is F***IN' CLASS!

I remember buying that on VHS back in the early '90s when anime was all shiny and new-fangled - it was one of the best offerings in the early salvo of releases. I think it bears mentioning that the show features one particular gag concerning 'anti-tank devices' that has to rank as one of THE most shocking, laugh-out-loud funny visual gags in history.

The original OVA series is out of print now, but still easy enough to find through online retailers. The 'New Dominion Tank Police' series is still available, though it is a bit inferior. I think it can be had in its entirety for just four quid on Amazon...

If you'd like to see that get a UK release, why not head on over to the Beez Entertainment Twitter page?

Beez are Bandai's major distributor in the UK, and quite receptive to hearing what UK fans want to see. They're responsible for putting out Gundam Wing, SEED, SEED Destiny and a few other things like F91 and Char's Counter-attack. Asking them about the possibility of a UK release for the original series couldn't hurt.

So long as they preserve that AWESOME intro music, mind!

I've not seen very much anime regrettably.

I wish I knew more of the culture that fules some of the common theames.

I have seen some, the classic Akira, Full Metal Alchamist, Bleach, Ghost in the Shell...

so I thought I'd come up with a quiz..

Been a while since I checked out any new anime. It probably has to be the moe glut that its going through at the moment.

I still go back to rewatch a few old favourites here and there like: NGE, Planetes, Black Lagoon, Ghost in the Shell, Genshiken, Full Metal Panic and 2x2 Shinobuden.
Everything I know about life, I learnt from old school hip-hop. Don't sweat the technique!

Planetes is a funny one - a lot of anime fans I know raved about it, but after a strong start I found it very pedestrian. Enjoyable, but pedestrian.

I'm currently watching 'Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid' which I imported from the US. It's CRIMINAL that we've got the first series and the not-as-amusing-as-everybody-claims FUMOFFU, and not this! It's action packed, funny and brilliantly animated.

Some hawt news for y'all - Beez just announced that they're putting Outlaw Star out on their Anime Legends line. When, I don't know, but it'll be a good 'un to snap up.
