This is some lovely comics. I picked up #4 today, and Slayer Keith alone has been worth the admission price
You may quote me on that.

I love this comic - picked up issue 4 the other day and found it a thoroughly enjoyable read. Black Ops has grat art from PJ Holden, Slayer Keith amused, but the highlight for me was The Devils Advocate - a translated French strip set in 1930s -think Raiders of the Lost Ark meets Dan Brown. I'm not a fan of the one page strips but in any anthology you will find something that isn't to your taste.
It's great to see another mainstream anthology and we should all be doing our best to support it - go and buy a copy
An old-school, no-bullshit, boys-own action/adventure comic reminiscent of the 2000ads and Eagles and Warlords and Battles and other glorious black-and-white comics that were so, so cool in the 70's and 80's - Buy the hardback Christmas Annual!

Yeah picked up mind in my LCS it was fun, though the delays are an issue. There were all sorts of adverts for stuff, issue 5 (the date had already gone) and the newstand release in a month with issue 7 in May (which would mean 2 more issues between then and now) that worry me. This is getting off the rails and I really hope the comic survives and returns to a consistent line-up.

Still the content was good which is the main thing after all.

I believe that Issue 5 will be a double issue wrapping up the first batch of stories (I'd guess WarPaint, The Devils Heritage and Age of Heroes) before Issue 7 opens with a new batch of stuff for the first news-stand distributed issue. Which means - officially there will be no Issue 6.  In years to come when Strip and 2000AD have returned comics to a central role in cultural life and small children can tell you the minutest detail of a history of Strontium Dog the 'lost' issue 6 of Strip will rank there with Atlantis, Hollow Earth theory and whether James Cameron really had read Firekind.
If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.

Given the numerous problems with transportation so far, I'm wondering how they're expecting to keep to a regular schedule once it hits the newstands. Clearly this method of publication is running into serious problems all the way down the line, and I don't forsee it being sorted out by the time May comes around.

Maybe it should go bi-monthly?

The think I was hoping (though with no knowledge hence hoping) was that whatever distribution systems come   into play with newstand distribution will change the course of these problems? Is that possible, either increased volume, a more recognised distributor, or end destination may mean the problems at customs etc are mitigated?

Does anybody know how these things work?

Arh interesting to hear about issue 5 being double sized that would get past the problem, has anybody else heard that?

Same here, still waiting on the sub copy. I will say though for the subscribers we are getting the bum end of the deal, we rarely get the issues when they hit the stores and normally its 2 - 3 weeks after store release that the sub copies arrive.

As others have said though, I really can't see how they are going to manage a monthly release on the high street. The delivery problems they have suffered with every issue so far have knocked this comic to near enough a bi-monthly release once the issues are released or sub copies sent. Since #1 landed in November last year, we've had 3 issue's since as subs, #4 is nowhere to be seen and was in LCS last week. I really can't see how all these customs, transport, delivery issue's will vanish in what is essentially 3 weeks until the relaunch if they are still aiming for May.

I got my subs copy yesterday. It was worth waiting for!

Nice to see work by this board's Dave Thomson in there. Great stuff, Dave.

The Prodigal

As did mine and I have to say that even as an old fart of 48 I still got a thrill of seeing my name on the letters page.

Strip genuinely reminds me of the old Valiant and Lion comics. It's great seeing another Brit comic on the scene and hopefully deliveries and scheduling problems will soon be ironed out.
