It's published in Bosnia because the publisher is based in Bosnia.

But the High Streets are in the UK.

If Strip is serious, it needs regular on-time distribution. It is imperative for any mainstream printed publication - for consumers, distributors and retailers.

It seems to me this is the only hurdle facing Strip's success. The market demand, artistic desire to succeed and the creative talent are all in place. Now it's all about fulfilment.

So, perhaps it's time to find an alternative printer. If not in the UK, then at least the EU, from where you can get print delivered from press to shop in less than 24 hours.

But really, you'd imagine that in this day of global trade where you can eat strawberries grown in South Africa, this shouldn't be a problem. There is no point in going to all the expense of setting up your own UK-based printers if it is a matter of making sure all the red tape is sorted and making sure it all trickles down to the relevant people. It shouldn't be a problem, but when you are fighting bureaucracy...

The upside is that, hopefully, this initial period should help them work the kinks out, so when it moves to newsagent distribution things are running smoothly.
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

I'm worried I'm not making myself clear: the publisher - ie the person who foots the bills - is also a printer, his printshop is in bosnia. This is why the book is published (in every sense of the word) in Bosnia.

I suspect the logistics of distribution in UK/published in Bosnia looked a lot easier on paper than it has worked in reality.

"Strip #5 got to the UK two weeks ago. Customs issues mean the order is now back in Bosnia to be re-sent to the UK. More later."

Just on Twitter. The Strip office must have pulled out hair all over its floors.

If it means getting the re-launch right I'll gladly take the delay. I love STRIP and really want it to be a success
An old-school, no-bullshit, boys-own action/adventure comic reminiscent of the 2000ads and Eagles and Warlords and Battles and other glorious black-and-white comics that were so, so cool in the 70's and 80's - Buy the hardback Christmas Annual!

Obviously I don't know anything about importing large amounts of product from Bosnia but you have to wonder why after a year these problems haven't been identified and addressed. Are customs throwing up different issues and barriers that can't be predicted? Or are the publishers trying to cut corners to save money, both or neither? Who knows, but I really hope this time they have a solid plan that will work and that they have discussed this with the right people to avoid these continued problems. I really want Strip to succeed, but aside from the content, which I believe has also suffered from these delays, there's nothing I've seen thus far to give me confidence that this will happen.

It kinda reminds me of the long protracted death of Comics International after that was relaunched. Circumstance may be very different, but from a reader perspective the results are the same. My desire to buy the product is stretched by continued plans and ambitions that the publishers can't meant. Until in the end I simply gave up, to find out it was about a year or so after I'd stopped paying attention that the magazine was canceled.

Really hope we don't see this happen again here.

Anyone who is aware of of comics set in the Roman empire fetish will know this makes me happy.

Curious name clash aside another reason to really hope the relaunch works this time.

When faced with two similar-sounding and identically-titled stories, you should generally choose the one written by the idiot whose knowledge of the historical period in question at least stretches far enough to know there's no such thing as "the year 0 AD".

Cthulouis

Neither of these stories are about two kids who find a spaceship :(

Yeah, Caesar must've found it a bugger winding his watch on from BC to AD.

Fortunately for him, he died 44 years before this could have developed into a real problem for him.
