Excellent - is this one of the creator-owned series you are doing (presumably with that Spurrier chappie)?
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

QuoteDying young, a brilliant Mathematician enters the afterlife and discovers a way to cheat the terrifying Divine Calculator. He schemes to be endlessly reincarnated within the lifespan of the woman he loves, no matter how often the violent bailiffs of the Karmic Accountancy cut-short each life.

It falls to one such agent – the surly Bastard Zane – to put a stop to the time-twisting romance once and for all, before the Mathematician can pull-off his greatest trick and escape Existential Justice forever.

Numbercruncher is an off-the-wall romance mixing time-travel, life-after-death and coal-black comedy. It's Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind meets Doctor Faustus by way of Quantum Leap; all seen through the eyes of the pseudo-villain sent to punish "the hero" of the tale. It's utterly unusual, vaguely insane, and unexpectedly heart-warming: a metaphysical sci-fi romantic crime-noir time-twisting comedy-thriller, in 80 hardboiled pages.

That sounds brilliant!

Art

PJ is probably bored of me saying this, but there is something rather pleasingly Steve Parkhouse like about the art style he's picked for it.

I dunno, maybe I just associate bowler hats with Steve Parkhouse. Bowler hats are cool.

And I'm really looking forwards to seeing some new Simon Spurrier work that's not tied to a Marvel giga-event X-over thingie.

Oh, and it sounds like Gutsville might get finished too, which is pretty cool.

Matt Timson

PJ already knows this, but I forgot to mention it to Spurrier at the weekend- mainly because I'm a self absorbed nob with the attention span of an 8 year old- but this looks ace and has 'movie deal' written all over it.
Pffft...

My thoughts exactly.

Any hint of who is going to be publishing the book in the US? Or is this still up in the air?

I get a real Steve Parkhouse vibe off a lot of PJs work and even asked him about it when discussing his Rogue Trooper work (I think it was?). Being a bit Steve Parkhouse is a blooming good thing.

Emperor

Well it took a while to get posted, but finally:
