I'm loving the punk influence in that early Dredd concept sketch, Mr Carlos!

The helmet is definitely too big. I called over the wife and asked her immediate reaction and it was 'the helmet is too big' and she's got experience of that kind of thing.

Damn that adultress.

Wouldn't that exaggerate it more and make the problem worse? I keep forgetting this will be in 3D, that's how pointless and odd the idea seems to me still, that my brain automatically dismisses it as poppycock.

sniff.. I think I need some lessons for posting here   :'(

If you are wanting to show the image full size, I'm happy to assist.

I think If I have one slight niggle it's that there's no chain on the badge. Seems a small detail and not really a practical one, but I always thought the eagle and chain were quite symbolic (it gave it a whiff of freedom/liberty and oppression respectively) , but I'm maybe reading into it too much. The eagle might look silly in a movie but a wee chain would have been nice. I'm sure I'll get over it.

I don't mind the loss of chain. It looks interesting on the comic, but since they're going for practicality.... well, a chain can get caught on things can't it?

My first impression is - I like it.

I like the colour hues and the finishing on the helmet. There are some nice nods to comic Dredd past and present. I love the fact that he seems to be in leather. I like the look of the Lawgiver (though would it have killed them to put a small semi circle disk on the side).

I agree with some of the comments about elements looking a bit over sized, but I think proof of the pudding will be in seeing it in motion and if it looks practical whilst in action.

Despite the helmet looking a little bit large (in this shot), the 'eyes' and face of the helmet are still definitely Dredd. It's this which will sell it to me in the film.

In summary -the helmet face is Dredd, the rest could work, I'm still optimistic.

It might have been nice to put a relief of an Eagle on the other pad.

Of course it could have been done stylistically to fit-in and add to the look, there's an eagle on the badge so it wouln't be out of place to have a more noticeable moulded relief part on the shoulder pad with subtle padding to complete the stylised eagle form without it looking ridiculous, but it seems they're either playing it safe or didn't have the time to spend on it.

I saw a comment by someone on Den of Geek saying 'the browness of the suit looks odd in contrast to the helmet'. That was a first for me. Looking at the image, particularly the one they show, (which I didn't notice until I read their post) I'm pretty sure the brown tint is reflection.

Another guy complains (to me. I'm Marvmarble* on there) that the helmet and suit 'has gone wrong already'. I can understand people disliking the suit, (don't get me wrong, I like it myself, but it is different, which will rub some folks up the wrong way) but the helmet is pretty much spot on to me. Unless it's the common complaint of being 'too large' which I'm not convinced of. (If it is, it's only a bit.)

Actually, someone else there accused that guy of being scojo... (The posts weren't particularly offensive though.)

Edit- On another post he wants DoG to start up a petition to get the DNA guys to employ the Minty guys. Ok, not offensive but a bit irritating. (Not that the Minty folks didn't do a great job. It's the petition thing I find irritating, for some reason. I don't think anyone will bite though.)

*A silly name I know. It's based on a comedy superhero I created as a kid.

I wasn't aware the uniform is brown, whoever he is, he's colour blind.

Steve Green

Looking at the pad in the photo seeming to be different, I think they may have gone that route.

Looking at the pad on the left tricep, Cliff Robinson does something similar with the tailfeathers of the eagle on a pad like that - I could see them splitting the eagle in relief between one of those pads and the shoulder pad.

Sc*j*'s pretty busy at the moment- everything he said here (along with images created by boarders) is repeated over at gallifreybase.com, under his alias 'whofann'.

I like what I see so far. The compromises in shoulder pad design seem logical and the retro feel is a nice touch.
The Lawgiver needs the semi circle ammo option thingy (or whatever) in my opinion, 'cos it just looks like a modified Uzi to me.
Helmet is spot on, although a little large, and the scratches give it a worn in look.

Can't wait now to see a full length photo to see the rest of the uniform. :)
