Songs or music that take you back to your childhood

I just heard the theme tune to Taxi, which brought back a flood of memories from an age when I was too young to enjoy or appreciate the show (in fact I don't remember ever watching it beyond the opening credits). I get a really powerful sense of emotion and nostalgia from that particular piece of music that almost moves me to tears.

Anyone else get strong emotional feelings from a particular piece of music?

Here's mine...
The Sweeney closing theme. They use to play this version when the bad guys got away.

Submitted without comment. WAIT! That was a comment. Oh well seems as I'm here... I may as well comment, it's sublime bassline causes it to be as relevant to me today as it did in "yesteryear?". Well it still brings the kid out in me.

The one most relevant to my childhood was STOP! (in the name of Love) by Diana Ross?
"bULLshit Mr Hand man!"
"Man, you come right out of a comic book. "

Pretty much anything by Boney M, Blondie or Abba.
'Oliver's Army,' 'I Don't Want to Go to Chelsea' and 'Accidents Will Happen' by Elvis Costello.
'You're Moving Out Today' by Carole Bayer Sager
'Einstein a-Gogo' by Landscape.
'Elstree' and 'Living in the Plastic Age' by Buggles.

Anything from NIN 'Pretty Hate Machine' or 'The Real Thing' by Faith No More. Also anything by Def Leppard  :-[

Oh, and probably more than anything else, 'Unbelievable' by EMF. It was the first song I remember loving so much it was scary, to the point where because I couldn't own it I sat my tape recorder beside the telly while it was on and then used high speed dubbing to make a 60 minute tape that was entirely that terrible recording over and over again.

Plus the Quantum Leap theme.

It's an obvious cliched one, but the Bagpuss theme tune.

For some weird reason The Walk of Life by Dire Straits really evokes an early childhood memory that is both specific and vague at the same time.

Pretty much any and all of the musical numbers from the film adaptation of The Water Babies - a film that we had taped off the telly and use to watch over and over again when we were very little.

The theme tune from the BBC adaptation of The Box of Delights - again something we had taped off the telly and it's something I still watch almost every Christmas with my sister - I still think this is a lovely piece of music - equal parts haunting and Christmassy:

I can vividly remember sitting on the stairs in our old house, in floods of tears because I was so frightened of Ratty's face looming out of the darkness in the credits.

Anything by Kiss(Early Kiss not gay 80s Kiss)...I went to see then in the NEC when I was 11 in full Ace Frehley make-up...musically i've outgrown everything I listened to as a kid but I still to this day love Kiss and have been to see them several times...I'm not even into rock anymore

'Avenues and Alleyways,' the theme tune from The Protectors, not that I would ever have been bothered to watch the programme itself.

Abba & early Bowie. Both of which I still listen to on a regular basis.

Oh, & any one of a box of 45s my brother gave me -

God Save the Queen, Fancy Pants by Racy (WTF?) & The Boys are Back in Town are the ones that stand out.

JamesC

A windmill in old Amsterdam - it was on Bagpuss once I think but is a classic children's song in it's own right.

Also anything from the Oliver! or Paint Your Wagon soundtracks - my sister had the LPs and would play them on Sundays while my mum made the dinner!

The World In Action theme music is a flashback to the 70's/80's Apocalypse.
