Not of 2000 AD but of this forum.

I've been online for a little while now and been a member of a few forums over the years and I can honestly say that this is the friendliest and most professionally that I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of.

The rules are clear and sensible and the attitude is spot on. The whole thing feels very British, in the very best sense of the word, as it should do for a British institution like 2000 AD.

Thanks to everyone who has made me feel very welcome (even though it was still been under 24 hours since I joined!) and to whoever it is that is running this thing.

some don't agree:

'This forum has the most hardcore fans around and for that you should be proud, but at the same time has a strong rep as 'don't bother going there, it's a dozen people who wish it was like the old days and the rest are scared to talk'. I know it's not like that, but that's the serious impression this site gives. Many creators are too scared to even read the forum, let alone reply. This is the forum that spawned the 'fan' that sent me shit, after all!!

Anyway, you have one more week of Necrophim. Rejoice. Maybe something better will come along.'

Hmm - the old poo in mail from 2000ad maniac chestnut.  Maybe it was someone from the forum who did it, but to me it sounded more likely it was someone with a more personal vendetta - what evidence was there to link the poo in post to this forum?  I seem to recall a gloating private mail to Tony's blog saying that this forum had not rated his debut strip? If that was all, its hardly a convincing connection, but maybe there was more.

As to the rest, you could just as easily argue this is a forum where people keep their opinions to themselves because of fear of an offended creative turning up (or writing them into their next strip!).  It'd be just as true (that is, entirely not true).

While we do have the odd meltdown, and God knows, we do sometimes type our true feelings in a down the pub kind of way that when presented in the cold light of internet probably doesnt look entirely inviting, I'd defend the forum 99% of the time.  Its pretty self regulating, more likely to jump on a negative nancy en masse than just about everywhere else, wiothout falling into outpost Gallifrey style "worship them" sycophancy.

Wheres that quote from btw?

Forgot about teh edit thing..
found the quote form the 1722 thread, and had a read of the rather horrible poo gate post from all that time ago.  And it did remind me what a despicable act that was as described by Tony, and I can if that happened to me, Id be beyond apoplectic, but I have to defend this forum and say that theres really nothing linking this forums members to that incident other than that person using what was said here as ammunition against him.

Pretty appalling, but not that convinced that it was some disgruntled member of this forum, and Im uncomfortable with this becoming a "fact".

Everybody sees me
But its not that easy
Standing in the lightfield
Standing in the lightfield
Waiting for some action
Waiting for some action
Why wont you come over here

Why wont you come over here
We've got a city to love
Why wont you come over here
We've got a city to love

Old time grudges
Will die so slowly
I know you miss the
Way I saw you
And cold
You're so cold
You're so cold
You're so cold

Nobody can see me
Everythings too easy
Standing in the lightfield
Standing in the lightfield
Waiting for some actress
Waiting for some actress
To say
Why wont you come over here

Why wont you come over here
We've got a city to love
Why wont you come over here
We've got a city to love

Old time love song
Will die so swiftly
You never trust me
For a while
It was nice
But its time to say bye

Cold
You're so cold
You're so cold
You're so cold

NO NO NO
You're so cold
You're so cold
You're so cold

NO NO NO NO
You're so cold
You're so cold
You're so cold

Oh
You're so cold
