Funny how one of the Facebook trolls used Sulkin's exact quote, Maybe they can get him for inciting hatred.

And RIP to the dead. I expect the numbers floating around are paltry compared to what the final death toll will be.

I was being a tad facetious, but I wouldn't shed a tear if people randomly slapped him in the street. Along with that surgeon-looking guy on the Facebook link. I hope he's a vet. He's definitely not a brain surgeon.

Red cross donations - I suggest people stop getting angry at like, twenty individuals and donate to some thousands.

Also something slightly lighter

Professor Brian Cox on Twitter: "Stop asking about the bloody so-called Megamoon. It has nob all to do with anything!"

A bad image came across my mind, I can see Hollywood producers and directors rubbing their hands on how a Tsunami on a grand scale acts thus in the next few years I feel a deluge of Tsunami related movies coming through.
If a percentage of profits go to rebuild and rehabilitation then it would be a good thing, but with the industry full of leeches I can't see it myself.

Through strength I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.

I wouldn't say you're far off there, V.  On the other hand, it was ever thus - just look at Hiroshima and Godzilla.

While I appreciate that it's utterly trivial, I saw a TV spot for Battle: LA this morning, complete with devastated cityscapes, terrified civilians and helicopter evacs, something I'd been looking really forward to going to, and thought 'feck, no'.

If I can just say that from what I've read, displacement was 2.4m and it appears to have occurred in a splay fault not the main thrust. Fuckin hell!

To tell the truth, you can all get screwed.

That does seem to be the current conclusion - New Scientist are suggesting it's a previously unknown splay fault too, so who knows whether this has actually added to stresses rather than relieving them.  Almost unbelievable - more displacement than the Sagami Bay quake, nearly heading for the Prince William Sound level.  It's very scary stuff.

But that was made by a Japanese person, and it was intended to subtly reference a horrific event which could not be discussed publicly at that time.

Anyway, I don't think we'll any tsunami movies any time soon. It's mainly American disasters (i.e. Iraq war) that are popular subjects for Hollywood.

Well despite all the bad news, nuclear power stations going awry etc, my colleague has turned up safe and well and was on the southern island of Japan when the tsunami hit which hasn't been so badly affected.

That said it looks like a real mega disaster along the northern coast.

I hope the Japanese get through it somehow.

Pretty idiotic comments from that US mob. It's like saying a California quake is in response to Vietnam. How utterly ridiculous.
The Justice department has a good re-education programme-it's called five to ten in the cubes.

Saw a newspaper headline this morning (think it was either the Telegraph or the Times) that read "JAPAN FIGHTS FOR IT'S SURVIVAL".

Isn't that more than a little alarmist and scaremongering, even by the press' usual standards? The very idea that the entire population of Japan - or indeed Japan as a country - is in some way hanging in the balance is insane. Groteque exaggerations and obscene scare-tactics like that make me glad that the newspapers are fucked!

My friend in Hitachi is fine, thankfully.

As shocking as the previously released videos were....this is still hard to fathom.
