So, anyone getting one of these?

I reckon I will, I adore my iPad 1 and have got a couple of people interested in buying it for about £200. I will be a sad git standing in line at the Apple store tonight!

Anyone else?

I think if you're not at an Apple Store line soon, you'll be lucky to get one, although some resellers reportedly will have stock (Argos, Currys, PC World), so that might be a better bet.

I'm mulling it over currently, but even with my position as a contributing editor to Tap! magazine, I'm finding it hard to justify an iPad 2 over the original that I already own. iPad 3/iPhone 5 looks more likely for me.

To anyone who doesn't have an iPad and is considering one, the iPad 2 is a no-brainer, though, and I certainly also wouldn't begrudge anyone updating, especially if they can offload their original iPad for a decent price.

£200 for your iPad.... Might be interested in that myself!!

Still torn.

If it had a USB port or even a built-in card-reader as opposed to daisy-chaining stuff onto the 30-pin connector I would buy one.

Still not entirely sure what I would use it for, day-to-day - maybe a bit of browsing on the commute (but paying extra to mobile operators to do that, when I've already paying a phone tariff rankles)

It still seems more of a device for consumption rather than creation though - I think I'll be waiting a while for something Cintiq like in an ipad, at an ipad price.

Did you read about the guy who's been sitting oustide the Regent St Apple store 33 hours early (missing his son's 12th birthday in the process). Last time. he was the 4th in the queue to get an ipad, but apparently this isn't good enough, he has to be first.

I despair sometimes!

I hope he fucking dies. The world would be no poorer.

You can fire stuff across with Dropbox, remember. (A card reader would be good for photo imports, though, I agree.)

That's what I thought, until I bought one. Now: bye bye, laptop.

Or: SketchBook Pro, IA Writer, GarageBand, NanoStudio, Beatwave, Photosmith, etc. Ultimately, I do use my iPad for consumption more than creativity (especially for media playback, reading books, comics and games), but it can be good for more tasks. And the App Store provides a wealth of affordable software. Still, it is a 'risk' if you're unsure, especially if you're content with your existing devices.

Nah, after using an iPhone 4, I'm done with anything that isn't the same sort of resolution - I'll happily sit with my iPad 1 until iPad 3 (or 4 depending on resolution) comes out.

Not that fussed on the cameras and the sorts of apps I use don't really push the machine at all (not for me running blasting things...)

I don't think we'll see a Retina display on an iPad any time soon. A doubling of resolution might be possible, but you won't see the same ppi as in the iPhone 4.

Tiplodocus

I was at ASDA at midnight last night getting a 3DS for Tiny Tips' 11th birthday.

Maybe the fourth/first chap in the queue is doing the same?

(The 3DS looks great by the way).
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

As long as my iPad works, I can happily sit it out regardless of time frame.

Yeah, it's mainly as a device to review shots/stills with.

I'm quite interested in the sd cards that have wi-fi built in, but unfortunately they're not really high capacity enough for me, and I don't think they do CF cards like that.

It would also be highly useful for film-makers to have an hdmi input on a tablet, so it could be used as a monitor.

That alone, I would buy one in a snap - but I know it's so niche that it's unlikely to happen.

I may get one, it would be awfully handy to carry around reels/portfolios with, especially now that it's got HDMI out as well.

Let's hope you don't use Lightroom, or it'd be downright irresponsible for me to link to this.

You absolute bastard :)

You may quote me on that.
