Courgette (home grown)

Cheers!

Our courgettes have been crap this year. We had tons of them last year; had to give them away.
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

It's all been crap this year. We've eked out our pathetic stock of courgettes. I doubt we've had two dozen edible tomatoes when last year we didn't buy tomatoes for about two months... :-/

Here's a closer look at the pork:

Check out the crackling! :-)

I hope David Cameron hasn't been show this!

Forgot to take photos, but another double-header this weekend. On-the-bone chicken breast quarters on Saturday. A chunk of the wife's family over on Sunday — feeding six, so another pork shoulder joint, and a boned leg of lamb with a cumin seed, coriander seed and garlic rub, plus salmon fillets and a piece of sea bass.

I'm going to see how far into October i can extend BBQ season! I have an eye on Sat 17th, when we have friends over and the farmers' market (which supplies the previously depicted rib of beef at a ridiculously reasonable price).

Cheers!

We didn't eat it all — I always cook a load of food on the BBQ because the fire will burn away to nothing regardless of the quantity of food cooked on it... so I do a pile of it and we graze on the leftovers for the next few days.

Cheers

The funnin', fightin', flatin' Campbells!

Looks damned good whether it's long pig or regular.
We never really die.

We need to know what beverages are being consumed during these feasts!!

I should mention one thing we've done to improve the general barbecue experience: we don't eat outside. There's a little patio area with a table and chairs and the barbecue(s) are at the bottom of the (small) garden, so guests sit outside and drink whatever (wine, usually) to keep me company while I cook (usually drinking beer) and then we retreat to the dining room to eat the food off a proper plate on a proper table, before returning to the garden to lapse into a gentle digestive coma.

Cheers!

I like the idea of eating inside.  The thing that puts me off barbecues are the poxy flies.

Wasps for us. Yes, absolutely -- take the meal inside. A MUCH better experience.
