Emperor

You DID look vaguely familiar though - I now realise it's all those months of looking at your baby picture!

It's the giant head. ;)

Another regret:

 • No DarkJimbo - CFM and I will be working to rectify that next year (even if it involves a sack and some chloroform - and that is just for me, once I'm properly giddy we'll bundle him into the boot of a car).

It's a date! I've already lamented with CFM that I didn't go, and the annoing thing is I don't really know why - I'd always assumed that Bristol was really far away from me, but recently learned it's actually only two hours by train. So I feel a right plum for not making the effort, eespecially reading this thread and seeing all the pics.

Well ladies and gents, that is what you might call a result :)

Your Dogbreath cover was still getting a lot of attention and we were singing your praises, so it would be less weird to have you there ;)
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

That banner is lovely. Nice to see the old logo as well.

Now how about an inflatable tharg floating cross-legged above the stand at San Diego? ;)

Lovely to meet everyone (well those I met - apparently Dunk eluded me).

My regerts:

 • Not stealing Bisley's table cloth on which he'd drawn a giant cock (just imagine what you could get on eBay for "Simon Bisley's giant penis"
 • Not getting a photograph of Matt Timson's name tag which he wore all Sunday without realising someone had written "Man Lover" below his name
 • Only just now being able to work out the film Nick dyer and I were talking about (while watching a New Zealand zombie sheep film) was Isolation
 • Not having a dictaphone to record Stacy saying "It's the fucking Emperor"

I live to please:

And they even got me in one photo

...shortly after, there was this...

PJ is either holding a cigar, a gun, or issuing a two-fingered salute. Or maybe all three are recreating a classic Noir movie poster...

Dunk!

apparently Dunk eluded me).

I fear I eluded a number of folks I would've liked to have said hi to.

(Embarrassingly long ramble about being too drunk for introductions on the Sat night edited out)

Hopefully Brum will correct this?

Well balls. By Sunday I'd largely lost track of who I'd met properly and been introduced to - someone did point you out on Saturday night and there was much discussion of how you were
actually quite nice despite what everyone (including yourself) says
, then I got involved in a game of Hunt the Timson with the prize being CommandoForces not killing Kerrin for failing to bring back his Dredd/Rogue print. So it appears that, in all the excitement, I never actually introduced myself. I'll add it to my list of all the things I forgot to do and will rectify the situation when we are in the same general vicinity.

Emperor

Report by John Freeman (which reminds me I utterly failed to bump into him and seemed to have missed the Strip table too, another one for the list of regrets - sorry John) and I might as well pick out the most self-serving part:

QuoteTop picks? As usual, I headed first to the Futurequake and Zarjaz stand, where the latest issues of both titles were on sale. Stand out strips for me in FQ  have to be 'The Secret Origin of Suspension X' by Shaun Avery and Jim Lavery,  'A Free Ride' by John Howson and Jack Davies and 'Robo Sapiens' by Mark Smith and Steve Howard. The latest Zarjaz, and ABC Warriors special, is a must, and not just for the knock out Cliff Langley cover; 'Little Jobs' by The Emperor and Conor Boyle  (Conor showed me some of his amazing work, which deserves wider exposure), but the line up is hugely impressive, including strips by the likes of Lee Robson, Conor Boyle, Mike Carroll, Ben Clark, Jim Campbell, Gibson Quarter, Kev Levell and plenty more. Track a copy down, or face a Meq Quake Big Job on you!

I've said it before but Conor really went for it on the art and added detail in that just doesn't come across on the page (Hell you'd need to project the pages on the side of a bus to get the full effect) - he pointed out a visual joke I'd completely missed too.

He also links through to Stacey's report, which neither mentions meeting me or anything I was involved in, so I'll only add this quote (which underlines why I'm grateful for not getting a mention, as I could have easily got the blame for the sweepstake when all I did was be weak-minded enough for Lady F to Derren Brown the idea into my head and tore up some paper) ;) :

QuoteGatherings of geeks to watch Doctor Who and Eurovison (with brilliant lady Liz Boyle even arranging a Eurovison Sweepstake)

That Baker Who from Boo was amazing and WJC really captured the current doctor.
