Well, I read the FLESH: Legend of Shamana floppies from last and this months Megs last night and I thoroughly enjoyed them. I wasn't reading the prog when the story originally ran so it was all new to me.

Although, as I've already remarked elsewhere, nine pages without drawing a single background is taking the piss just a little bit, IMO!

Cheers

Yeah, that did occur to me to be honest. It seemed like the story mostly occured in a cloud of brown fog.

Most 2000AD stories seemed to look like that in the 90's. That's part of the reason I stopped reading.

For the pedants this is quickly settled by leafing through a rhyming dictionary and seeing if Law and Gore are close together and classed as direct rhyming words or similar.

House of Usher

From what I can see, 'law' and 'gore' don't pass the rhyming dictionary test.

(and, for what it's worth, "He is the gore" doesn't make sense anyway)
STRIKE !!!

Good issue art-wise this Meg, definately the best of Boo in a while. Numbercruncher has grown on me, quite enjoyed PJ's work this issue and Im looking forward to the next installment and a healthy dollop of McMarvel too.
Sorry if its already been mentioned but does anyone know who the returning artdroid is- due in a Meg or twos time?

Bolt-01

Isn't it Shaun Phillips? He's done a cover I believe.

Christ.

Law... Gore. Say it. It rhymes! It also works in the context of the cover - I am the gore. He's a bloody zombie!

Sheesh....

Not if you're Scottish or Irish or from some provincial parts of England it doesn't.

QuoteIt also works in the context of the cover - I am the gore. He's a bloody zombie!

What's a gore? I know what "I am gory" and "I am covered in gore" mean. "I am the gore"? No-one would say that unless they were trying to come up with a zombie-related rhyme for law and not really worrying very much about what it actually means. It may well mean "I am a pile of stinking offal," but that doesn't ring true about the image on the cover, which has teeth and actually looks a lot more threatening and dangerous than a pile of stinking offal would.

It's past my bedtime. "Nurse, the screens!"
STRIKE !!!

Oh? Nice one! I was always a fan of his work - he's still the Definitive Devlin Waugh to me, no harm to the rest. It'd be great to see him tackle a strip...

I clearly have no grasp on the intricacies of posting yet either!

Back to Lurkersville for me...

Bollocks I say! Right, it's war. Anyone who pronounces law and gore so that they don't rhyme goes into the vats.

Wierdos.

It's "Weirdos", not "Wierdos", and yes, that article in the Megazine is wrong too. It should be "WEIRD TALES".

...and I'm Scottish and so pronounce "gore" properly, like how all English people used to in films from the olden days, (with the exception of cockneys).

A perfectly enjoyable MEG but Samizdat Squad is becoming a favourite with excellent art.
The Justice department has a good re-education programme-it's called five to ten in the cubes.

Samizdat Squad was great.  I didn't much enjoy the first series all that much (not that I thought it was bad, it just didn't stick with me for some reason. Maybe the monthly wait between episodes?) This has gotten off to a great start however. Brilliant art, clear and concise storytelling and appearances by TWO cool looking alien lifeforms/mutants.  I'd like to see a bit more of those transparent things, they were quite cool!  And the last page was fantastic stuff too.

Personally I'm finding the Meg more consistently enjoyable than the Prog over the last few months. A perfect balance of stories and articles. Numbercruncher is excellent. It's a bit off having Anderson in both the Meg and the Prog however; I do think the Prog story is a bit better, the Meg story is all about Boo Cook's amazing art for me!
