Emperor

If I lived closer I'd be all over this:

QuoteScottish superstar comics scribe, the one and only Grant Morrison, will be returning to one of his old haunts where he's picked up many a comic, Glasgow's Forbidden Planet International on Buchanan Street (right by the Underground station). Grant will be signing copies of his upcoming book Supergods; I've been lucky enough to see a preview copy and it is a fascinating read, part potted history of the superhero genre from the perspective of someone who hasn't just read it but who has actually written many of the major characters being discussed. And the second half of the book becomes much more personal and a bit autobiographical as Grant relates comics reading from the 60s on to what he personally was reading as he grew up and then again as he entered into the medium as a creator and how it affected his worldview (and in return how his changing life shaped what he did with the medium). Grant will be signing in our Glasgow store on Thursday July 14th from 5 to 7.30pm, so please take this chance to meet one of the great writers in comics and support Grant in his hometown signing. Supergods: Our World in the Age of The Superhero is published in hardback by Jonathan Cape in July.

Would it be cheeky to ask him to sign my copy of Allstar Superman?

I only ask as I have it signed by Frank Quitely and Jamie Grant so would be nice to add Mr Morrison.
Hmm, just pretend I wrote something witty eh?

It does say he'll be signing copies of Supergods and he is only there for 2.5 hours, so I suspect they'll try and hustle the line along. However, if I was you I'd have it in my bag, so you can sneak it out and get it signed too, as long as you can put up with the glares of the staff and the evils you'll get from all the people behind you in the queue ;) Then again it is only one book - I used to help out with book signings at a literary festival and one book dealer turned with a trolley of books for the author to sign, now that is the way to really piss people off.

I, Cosh

I went to a Morrison signing in FP for Arkham Asylum with a friend who was a year or so younger than me. He's been dead for ten years now.

There's no point to this story, I was just feeling a bit wistful.
