Forum change...!

Personally, I like the more anonymous look of the forum as it is now. The old way was prettier but the stonking great 2000ad banner wasn't exactly inconspicuous, and was actually kind of annoying for browsing while at work - I don't really want to advertise my nerdiness to my colleagues!

I thought this might change under the port to a new forum thingy, but my username is STILL showing up as "SpookyTheCat" under my profile, even though I changed it close to two years ago. Is there any chance you could do something about that? I changed my name because my wife was getting threatening messages from a psycho who found me here, and while I am sure she is long gone, it's not brilliant to find my old name still about!

Yeh, it seems to come and go. But many people here have said that they see the other name in threads, then go to the threads and see smallbluething. I believe it also happens with someone else who changed. It's not a massive deal, but i did think the new forum might have fixed it.

I know this used to be the case - you could see it from the forum front page and it was quite confusing. However, I haven't seen this happen since the forum upgrade (which possibly came with a tweaking/rebuilding of the database, which might have fixed this problem).

Nah, it was there earlier- when i went to my profile page. On the left it said sbt, but at the top of the list down the middle it said forum name: stc. :/ that's what prompted me to ask.

There seem to be lots of people replying to very old posts at the moment, but I'm finding it hard to find recent threads if  there aren't unread posts

The only way I can find to see the StC alias associated with your account is by editing your profile which only you and the moderators can do.

I'll have a look at the database on Monday and make sure there's nothing lurking about associating SBT with that name and if there's anything hanging about either remove or do a mass association update on the name.

OK...your Real Name was set as 'SpookyTheCat' along with 3,000 odd posts with the same thing. So have scrubbed any mention of it and replaced them all with 'SmallBlueThing'.

Hopefully that should stop it happening, but let me know if not

Sorry but the lack of recently Active topics, is starting to grate. The current one takes off any post you answer and doesn't show new uns, not yet looke at, so welcome newbie and new threads on progs for example have to be search out, gggggrrr.

On the plus side, the <<Previous and Next>> buttons are now unpredictable pathways to transports of delight, inlcuding (whisper it) Thread Zero!  Don't change those please, they make me feel like Mr. Ben without the smell of mothballs!
