Isn't there a quote from Harlan Ellison about cloned soldiers and what is the first thing you'd make them? He says something like "You'd make them BLUE, so you could tell them apart from the real humans".

If that's genuine, expect Rebellion to get sued if a Rogue film escapes.

That, and with a ginger mohican. None of that blond hair retcon bollocks.

Ginger?  For some reason I've always thought GIs had pure white hair.

But then they wouldn't be teal and orange and the movie industry would cry.

[...] A blue skinned soldier traversing a Hell hole future War is certainly not going to stick out like a sore thumb is he?

Yes, but camouflage is crap for filming.  You need something that will stand out very clearly from the background; realism is a secondary factor.  Bright Manhattan-style blue would cost a lot, but slightly blue would be enough.

They'd be best explaining the blue as an uncontrollable side-effect of the cloning process.

There's a perfect explanation on "Creating Synthetic Life", for blue colours. Its the colour they code the cells in the Petri dish to signify they're their created ones. It won't be just cloning by the time Rogue is released it'll be new added ingredients of DNA moulding With yeast!

Why does everyone in this thread seem to have forgotten that the GIs were created to fight on a world with a poisonous atmosphere and corrosive oceans?  You don't need an excuse to make his skin blue.

Not sure if pervert or cheesecake expert.

I guess in the smog filled hell hole that is Nu Earth being blue wouldn't be that much of a problem.

Blue seems a successful colour after all a Movie about 12 ft Blue Aliens is the most successful Film in history.

I had always assumed this was part of the process so they'd not be able to pass as normal people without an awful lot of makeup, although I didn't know about that real world example. Plus being able to pretend your willy is a Smurf probably gets you through long lonely hours in the trenches.
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

For stealthy work, hiding in shadows, etc, blue (at least the darker shades) would work pretty well. Grey would probably be even better mind you. And if you're not in stealth mode, colour becomes irrelevant.

Always preferred the grey/blue on this cover by Cam Kennedy:

I have to admit I hadn't thought that far ahead.

Seeing as it was linked to (this thread), saw the most recent Universal Soldier recently, which of course was really bad, but it did become even more "Rogue" by the end,
having a bunch of clones revealed.
Can't imagine the spoiler being necessary, but just in case  ;)
