Hardly surprising, as they didn't know their audience and thus didn't know what show they were making.  Seeing as the blame lies with everyone else, Braga is already planning on bouncing back with a show about a future-cop whose gun fires different kinds of bullets and who lives in a city walled off from a post-nuclear wasteland in order to keep mutants at bay, but which must be policed in the most extreme measures because of the dwindling resources available - a plotline which will be forgotten by episode three until someone remembers it occasionally and uses it as the basis for an expedition into unfriendly territory to retrieve something or other which is essential to everyone's survival.  The story will no doubt focus on the cop's relationship with his youngest child, while a plethora of B-plots will revolve around the romances of the cop's teenage children.  It will be based on a pitch from an unknown writer who came up with the idea in 1976.

Joking aside, this actually sounds like something that would be made.  Sometimes I sicken myself.
